B.J. Green is in his fifth season as associate head coach for UAB in 2026. Green comes to The Magic City from Georgia Southern, where he served as the pitching coach since 2009. Since arriving on the Southside, Green's pitchers have been selected to the All-Conference team six times. The 2025 season saw Colin Daniel tabbed with 2nd-Team American Conference honors while Brendan Conner was named to the All-Freshman team. In 2024, Blayze Berry was tabbed with 1st-Team All-AAC honors while Colin Daniel secured 2nd-Team honors. Daniel was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 11th round in 2025. Daniel was the first UAB pitcher drafted in Green's tenure. The 2022 and 2024 seasons were historic for the Green and Gold pitching staff. In both seasons, the Blazers recorded 419 strikeouts on the mound, which is 2nd most in school history. Additionally, Green's pitchers also had the second fewest walks allowed and the second fewest earned runs allowed in the AAC in 2024. The pitching staff accomplished the same feat in 2022 with the second fewest earned runs allowed in Conference USA that season. In 2022, two pitchers were also selected to Conference USA All-Conference teams with Collin Taylor being selected to the All-CUSA 2nd-Team and Thomas Ballard recognized to the All-Freshmen Team. Brandon Szink was named an Assistant Coach by Head Coach Casey Dunn ahead of the 2026 season. Szink will work primarily with the Blazer hitters and infielders. Szink spent the previous four seasons at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio as a Volunteer Assistant Coach where he was a defensive coach and third base coach. Previously, he held roles as first base coach and bench coach. In 2024, the Batting Bishops turned 1.23 double plays per game which was the best in Division III Baseball. Simultaneously with his time at OWU, Szink spent time as director of baseball operations and player development at Bo Jackson's Elite Sports in Columbus, specializing in infield defense and hitting instruction from 2016-20. Szink moved up to director of baseball operations and player development after working for 4 years as the assistant director of baseball operations. Prior to his second tenure in Ohio, Szink spent one season at St. Petersburg College (FL) where he served as an assistant coach, working with the Titan infield. Prior to coaching at St. Petersburg, Szink served a brief stint in the player development department for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2020. Szink began his coaching career in Cleveland, Ohio at ACE Baseball where he spent four years as a General Manager, Program Coordinator and Coach. Casey Dunn promoted Parker Curry to an assistant coach in the summer of 2025. He was previously the Director of Pitching Development, a position he held since July of 2023. Curry joined the UAB coaching staff after spending the 2023 season as the Director of Baseball Operations for Samford. During his tenure at Samford, he oversaw the data collection from Trackman and helped players understand that data and what it represents. He worked primarily with the pitchers with the data, but also spent time using Trackman for offensive purposes as well. In addition to Trackman, he oversaw the PitchCom system and helped a lot with scouting reports for the Bulldogs. He operates in a very similar role for the Blazers. During his playing career, Curry was a member of the Samford baseball team from 2013 to 2016. Despite contributing more on the mound, he was a two-way player as an infielder each year as well and got his at-bats when he wasn’t pitching. Curry spent time finding success as a starting pitcher, relief pitcher, and closer during his career. Curry was a multi-time winner of the So-Con Pitcher of the Week and a 1st Team All Southern-Conference starting pitcher his senior season. After his career at Samford, he signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2016 and was in the organization for the duration of his rookie contract until the fall of 2022.
