Randy Norton enters his 13th season as the UAB women’s basketball head coach in the 2025-26 season. Since Norton arrived on campus in 2013, he’s guided the Blazers to at least 15 wins in 10 out of 12 seasons. In UAB’s second season in the American Athletic Conference, he led the Blazers to an 16-16 overall record and went 7-11 in league play and is the second wingiest head coach in program history. Norton guided UAB to its second consecutive postseason bid in the WNIT during the 2024-25 season. It marked the eighth all-time appearance and fifth under Norton. From 2017-2020, he led the Green and Gold to three consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time in school history. He led UAB to its first C-USA Regular Season title in 2017-18. Norton was named the 2017-18 C-USA Coach of the Year after leading the Blazers to a record-setting 27-7 overall record and a 13-3 conference record. The Blazers have finished with 12 or more conference wins from 2017-2020. The Blazers have also found success in the classroom under the direction of Norton. The team has recorded 17 straight semesters with a 3.0 GPA and have earned the Conference USA Academic Excellence Award three times (2017-18, 2019-20, 2020-21). LeMar comes to Birmingham after spending the 2024-25 season at South Alabama as an assistant coach. Before coaching with the Jaguars, she coached one season at Saint Francis, also as the assistant coach. Before LeMar arrived at Saint Francis, she was the assistant coach at the University of Mary, a Division ll school in Bismark, North Dakota. While with the Marauders, she coached two First Team All-League players and assisted with scoring reports, organized and conducted summer camps and assisted with player development. Prior to LeMar’s time in North Dakota she spent a season at California Baptist as a player development coach. As the developmental coach she monitored academic success, managed team film, attended practices, games and meetings, organized community service projects and managed admirative needs. Before beginning her coaching career, LeMar played professional basketball oversees for four seasons. She played in Germany, Australia, Sweden and Denmark. LeMar was named All-German 2 Bundesliga Guard of the Year in 2019. To begin her collegiate career, LeMar played two seasons at Southern Illinois and then finished her last two seasons at North Dakota State. The Blazers also ranked in the top five in eight categories in the American Athletic Conference, which includes 3-point field goals per game (1st – 8.4), blocks per game (1st – 4.4), defensive rebounds per game (3rd – 28.2), assists per game (3rd – 14.3), free throw percentage (3rd – 72.8), field goal percentage (3rd – 41.4), 3-point field goal percentage (3rd – 33.2) and points per game (5th – 67.0). Barnes began her collegiate career at UAB for the 2016-17 season where she appeared in all 30 games and made a freshman-high 27 starts. During her freshman season she was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week twice and netted doubles figures 10 times throughout the season. He helped guide a UNA player to Third Team All-ASUN, two Player of the Weeks and two Newcomer of the Weeks. Before his time with the Lions, Margenthaler spent a season at Pittsburgh where he served as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator and worked closely with the post players. During his lone season with the Panthers, he helped guide forward Liatu King to All-ACC First Team, ACC Most Improved Player and ACC Player of the Week during the 2023-24 season. He spent the 2022-23 campaign at South Dakota as the assistant coach where he helped sophomore point guard Grace Larkins earn First Team All-Summit League honors as she became the first player in league history to rank in the top five in points (17.5 ppg), rebounds (8.0 rpg), assists (4.4 apg) and steals (2.1 spg). Prior to South Dakota, Margenthaler spent six seasons at Saint Louis including his last four years as the associate head coach.
