Tony Graystone was named the ninth head coach in Texas Tech volleyball history on January 21, 2016. During his 10 seasons in Lubbock, Graystone has pushed the Red Raiders on an upward stride of success with 130 wins which ranks third most in program history and returned Tech to the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time in program history. The 2023 season was highlighted with a big win over No. 17 Kansas to open up Big 12 play on Sept. 22. Graystone also led the Red Raiders to a 6-1 record to open up the season as they hosted two tournaments in the United Supermarkets Arena. In 2022, Graystone led the Red Raiders to a 16-win season, highlighted by sweeps against Kansas State on Sept. 28 and Kansas on Nov. 25. He then reached his 100th career win with the Red Raiders after a reverse sweep of UTRGV on Sept. 17. Texas Tech also started the year out to an undefeated 8-0, which was the best start to a season since 2014. On Oct. 2, the Red Raider volleyball team set a program record in attendance against Texas when 6,037 fans showed up to the match, making it the largest crowd in the Big 12 all year. Graystone coached two All-Big 12 honorees in Kenna Sauer (First Team) and Brooke Kanas (Second Team), while Sauer also earned her second AVCA All-Region accolade. Graduate senior KJ Adams also notched her second-consecutive CoSIDA Academic All-America honor and 10 Red Raiders were named to the Academic All-Big 12 team. Texas Tech head coach Tony Graystone announced the hiring of Alisa Blair, who will serve as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator for the Red Raider volleyball program, on June 9, 2023. Blair helped the Red Raiders put together one of the largest freshmen classes in the country, welcoming in nine freshmen - two redshirts and seven true - in 2025. Those nine freshmen are the most that Graystone has brought in during his 10-year tenure and is exactly what he brought Blair in to do, recruit. The talented crop of prospects will look to be the core of the program over the coming years. Blair joins the Red Raiders after spending the 2022 season as the head coach for Abilene Christian. While there, Blair coached a member of the WAC All-Freshman Team in outside hitter Ashli Edmiston, who led the Wildcats in digs while ranking second on the team with 255 kills, the second-most by a freshman since ACU's move to Division I. It was Blair's second stint serving as a head coach. Blair also served three seasons as head coach, and another as assistant coach, at Hill College. While at the helm for Hill College, she collected an 83-38 (.686) overall record, won the 2014 Region V Championship and was named Coach of the Year that same season. Coaching multiple All-Americans at Hill College, the team would also finish in the top-15 of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rankings in every season she was there. Hanslik is certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC) and maintains CPR, AED, and First Aid certification. Her passion for strength and conditioning stems from her background as a collegiate athlete. At Lubbock Christian University, she was a four-year starter and all-conference outside hitter, surpassing 1,000 career kills and earning multiple honors for their volleyball program. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Sport Science (2015) and a Master of Science in Servant Leadership (2016). A native of Wray, Colorado, Hanslik has lived in Lubbock since 2004. She is married to Brandon Hanslik, and together they have two children, Beckham (5) and Emersyn (1).

"I'm proud to promote Mikayla from Director of Volleyball Operations to Assistant Coach,” said Graystone. “She’s done an excellent job as our DOVO, and I’m looking forward to working with her in this new role. Mikayla was a head coach in Missouri when I first hired her, and I know she’s excited to return to coaching. There’s no doubt she’ll have a positive impact and our players will love training with her.” Ell spent the last two season as Director of Volleyball Operations in the fall of 2025. In addition to her operations role, Ell spent the Big 12 portion of the 2024 season as an assistant coach where she worked with hitters and blockers. Ell comes from Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., where she was named the head volleyball coach for the 2022 season. During this time, Ell led the Stars to a record-setting year as the team posted its highest winning percentage and its first AMC playoff win in school history. Ell’s team led the AMC in digs per set and finished 3rd in both kills and aces per set. In addition, the Stars collected an impressive team GPA of 3.45.
