Associate Head Coach
Adrian Walters is in his first season as the associate head coach for the Lady Raiders in the 2024-25 season. Walters come to Tech after spending five seasons as an assistant coach with the North Carolina women's basketball program. While with the Tar Heels, Walters coached the team to the NCAA Tournament all five years he was there, including two second-round appearances and a third-round appearance. In the 2024-25 season, North Carolina would go 29-8 overall and 13-5 in the ACC to finish fourth in the regular season. In addition, the Tar Heels advanced to the semifinals of the conference tournament before making it to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. In Walters' stint at North Carolina, the Tar Heels totaled 109 overall wins and 56 conference victories. He would coach two WBCA All-American Honorable Mentions in Janelle Bailey (2021) and Deja Kelly (2022), one WNBA top-10 draft pick in Stephanie Watts, seven All-ACC selections and 13 Academic All-ACC members. Prior to his time in Chapel Hill, N.C., Walters spent the 2019-20 season as an assistant coach for the University of Alabama's women's basketball team. In that year, the Crimson Tide recorded its highest amount of regular season (18) and conference wins (8) since 1997-98. Ashlee Villarreal is in her second year serving as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Lady Raiders in the 2025-26 season. Villarreal served as the DOBO on the Georgia Tech women's basketball staff for six seasons after being hired there in June 2019. Prior to this, Villarreal spent a season with the Central Michigan women's basketball staff (2018-19) in the same position. While with the Yellow Jackets, Villarreal oversaw all logistical needs for the team, including travel, lodging, meals, team and staff calendars, fundraising efforts and event planning, budgets, equipment and more. She coordinated the team camps in the summer, helped with game day and event operations and optimized schedules to help with team efficiency. In that role at Central Michigan, Villarreal was in charge of the same things while also assisting the team with marketing efforts and compliance regulations. In 2017-18, Villarreal served as a graduate assistant for the Lady Raiders while getting a master's degree in sport management in 2019. In this position, Villarreal created and distributed recruiting graphics and materials, helped with individual skill sessions as well as player and team scheduling, hired student managers and coordinated basketball camp and compliance paperwork. Villarreal graduated with a bachelor's degree in sport management from Texas Tech University in 2017 and was a basketball letterwinner at Western Texas College in 2014-15.

After serving as the Lady Raiders Director of Player Development the last two seasons, Erik DeRoo was promoted to an assistant coach and will assist with the Lady Raiders recruiting operations during the 2023-24 season. This past summer, DeRoo helped Gerlich and the Lady Raider program sign one of the strongest transfer recruiting classes in the Big 12 that included former five-star Jordyn Merritt, First Team All-CUSA selection Jazion Jackson as well as CUSA Defensive Player of the Year Elina Arike. Entering year three at Texas Tech, DeRoo arrived at Tech after spending five season as an assistant coach and creative recruiting coordinator for the Abilene Christian University women’s basketball program. As part of his original role, DeRoo assisted and helped the Lady Raider’s social media platforms gain the most followers of all Big 12 programs, while also leading the conference in followers on TikTok. DeRoo has also added a presence within the program from a Sport Psychology element as he has created a year-long plan that addresses team building, mental health and personal development for the entire program. While at Auburn, Chapel coached four All-SEC players and 15 SEC Academic Honor Roll selections. In 2024-25, Chapel and the Tigers were defensively sound – ranking 28th nationally in turnovers forced per game with 19.90, making it three-straight seasons with a top-30 national ranking in turnovers forced. Chapel coached two All-SEC honorees in DeYona Gaston and Yuting Deng, while also coaching two players who averaged over 20+ points per games. Gaston, who scored 22.3 points per game, ranked 11th nationally in the category, while also ranking 17th in field goals (257) and 34th in field goal percentage (.543). In her third season at Auburn (2023-24), Chapel helped the Tigers back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019 after posting a 20-12 overall record and 8-8 record in the SEC. Associate Strength and Conditioning Coach
Texas Tech head coach Krista Gerlich has announced the addition of Kyle Jean as the associate strength and conditioning coach. Heading to Lubbock with nearly a decade of experience as a strength coach, Jean spent the last six years at Notre Dame where she primarily worked with baseball, women's basketball and women's golf. In addition to her work with the programs listed above, Jean assisted with men's basketball, volleyball, swimming, football and softball. She was also responsible for Notre Dame's strength and conditioning intern program. Prior to Notre Dame, Jean spent nine months working for Big 12 foe Kansas. During her time in Lawrence, Jean worked with a majority of Kansas' athletic programs including both basketball programs, KU's baseball and softball programs as well as Jayhawk volleyball. A 2012 graduate of Texas A&M, Jean earned her undergraduate degree in biomedical sciences. In 2014, Jean finished her graduate assistantship at Mary Hardin-Baylor where she graduated with her masters of exercise and sport science. Jean has already arrived in Lubbock and has begun working with the Lady Raiders ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Administrative Assistant to Head Coach
Leslie Hartline enters her 25th season working with Texas Tech Athletics. A native of Plainview, Hartline began working at Tech back in 1998 serving as the administrative assistant for James Dickey, Bob Knight and Pat Knight. In 2011, Hartline transitioned to a role with the Red Raider Club, before making her return to Lady Raider basketball in 2015. Since that point, Hartline has served as the main administrative assistant with roles that include assisting with travel arrangements, recruiting logistics and various other roles. An avid fan of all things Texas Tech and Lady Raider basketball, Hartline and her husband Jim can be found cheering on Tech throughout basketball season in United Supermarkets Arena. The couple has one daughter, Megan, who is currently a registered RN. Megan will complete her degree in nursing from Texas Tech during the 2022 academic year.

Renae Boone enters her second season as the Lady Raiders' assistant coach in 2026-27. The Lady Raiders broke streaks and records in 2025-26, posting a 26-8 overall record and 12-6 Big 12 record. After being picked 13th in the Big 12 preseason poll and finishing tied for fourth in the conference, Texas Tech recorded its highest conference finish since the 2012-13 season, its most overall wins since the 2002-03 season and its most Big 12 wins since the 2004-05 season. Boone helped the Lady Raiders to their best start in program history at 19-0 and to a national ranking for the first time since January 2012, spending 12-consecutive weeks in the AP top-25. With the 19-0 start to the year, Texas Tech tied its longest win streak in a single season in program history with 19 straight wins (Jan. 27, 1992 – April 4, 1993), the same year Tech won the national championship. Tallying three top-15 wins in 2025-26, Boone aided the Lady Raiders to their first sweep of Baylor in a single season since 2003-04. The team's first win against the Bears on Dec. 21, 2025 snapped a 31-game Baylor winning streak dating back to 2011 and was also Tech's first win at Baylor since Feb. 8, 2004. Tech added another win over Baylor on Feb. 18 in Lubbock, 87-56.
