Head Coach
Grant McCasland has led Texas Tech to the NCAA Tournament in each of his first three seasons and to a 74-31 overall record. McCasland and the Red Raiders advanced to the program’s third Elite Eight during the 2025 NCAA Tournament in a season where the team went 28-9 overall and set a program record with 15 wins in Big 12 play and followed it by advancing to the 2026 NCAA Second Round. McCasland has a 285-120 overall record in 12 seasons as an NCAA head coach and is the first Texas Tech coach in program history to lead the program to the NCAA Tournament in his first three seasons. The Red Raiders were ranked in the AP Top 25 throughout the 2025-26 season and had a 23-11 overall record and finished third in the Big 12 with a 12-6 conference mark. Tech has been ranked for 28 straight AP Top 25 releases to set a program record and has earned 10-plus conference wins for the first time since joining the Big 12. The 2025-26 season saw McCasland earn NABC All-District Coach of the Year honors and the program received two All-American selections with JT Toppin and Christian Anderson both earning the honors. Tech made 384 3-pointers during the season to set a new program record and finished in the top five nationally. Assistant Coach
Achoki Moikobu has helped lead Texas Tech to a 51-20 record and two trips to the NCAA Tournament as an assistant coach for Grant McCasland. Moikobu and the Red Raiders advanced to the Elite 8 in his second season, finishing the year with a 28-9 overall record along with going 15-5 in Big 12 play. The team was in the AP Top 10 for the final five weeks of the season and finished the year with the third most wins in program history. Prior to Texas Tech, Moikobu was an assistant coach for McCasland at North Texas for one season, helping the Mean Green establish a new program record by going 31-7 and completing the 2022-23 season by knocking off UAB to secure the NIT title. In the 2023-24 season, he helped to lead the Red Raiders to the 2024 NCAA Tournament and a 23-win season in his first year. Tech finished tied for third in the Big 12 standings and advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 Big 12 Championship. Along with team success in his second season, Moikobu helped develop JT Toppin, Darrion Williams and Chance McMillian who each received multiple 2024-25 postseason honors. Toppin earned all-America honors along with being named the Big 12 Player of the Year, Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and to the All-Big 12 First Team. Strength & Conditioning Coach
Andrew Wright is in his third season leading the Texas Tech men's basketball strength and conditioning program. A New Orleans native, Wright joined McCasland from North Texas where he worked with the Mean Green basketball team for the past four seasons. Entering the 2025-26 season, Wright has helped the Red Raiders to a 51-20 record and two trips to the NCAA Tournament, including reaching the 2025 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight. Wright joined UNT in February of 2018 and would lead the strength and conditioning training for the track & field program before taking over men's basketball and volleyball roles in September 2019. UNT went 94-35 during his four seasons along with winning the Conference USA regular-season title in 2020 and 2022 and securing the 2021 C-USA Tournament championship. Wright helped UNT establish a new program record last season by going 31-7 and completed the 2022-23 season by knocking off UAB to secure the National Invitation Tournament title. Prior to his time in Denton, Wright served as a Physical Education coach at Fort Worth Academy. Wright graduated from TCU in 2013 with a Kinesiology degree and has earned certifications from both the NSCA, USAW, and American Red Cross.

Jardon Powell is in her third season as the Texas Tech men's basketball Director of Administration and Operations under head coach Grant McCasland. Born in Lubbock, Powell was raised in the Texas Hill Country and has spent the last six years in Midland working at Midland Christian School where she served as the Communications Director and College Guidance Counselor. Powell graduated from Baylor University in 2014 with a Business Marketing degree. After graduating from BU, she worked within the admissions department where she planned and led recruiting events for prospective students across West Texas. Most recently at Midland Christian, Powell streamlined internal and external communication efforts for the school. She assisted the administration and Board of Trustees in establishing policy, coordinating school-wide events, and managing public relations.

Kellen Buffington is in his third season as the Texas Tech men's basketball General Manager. Buffington has helped the Red Raiders to a 51-20 record and two trips to the NCAA Tournament, including reaching the 2025 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight. One of the most respected grassroots basketball organizers in the country, Buffington arrived at Tech after founding and operating TheTB5Reports in Dallas and helped the Red Raiders advance to the 2024 NCAA Tournament in his first season. A Compton, California native, Buffington attended Paul Quin College where he earned a bachelor's in criminal justice before earning a master's degree from Concordia University in education administration. He worked as a Texas educator for 14 years within the Dallas Independent School District, Cedar Hill ISD, and Irving ISD. While operating The TB5Reports, Buffington helped identify and scout highly successful players like Mike Miles, Cade Cunningham, Anthony Black, Cason Wallace, Keyonte George and Jordan Walsh among others for NBA front offices and collegiate programs throughout the country. He also founded The Blueprint5 in 2013 which is a basketball program for young men in inner-city neighborhoods and was a juvenile detention officer for three years within the Dallas Juvenile Justice department.

Bakamus served as an assistant last season at Arizona after beginning his stint in Tucson as the director of player development for the Wildcats in the 2021-22 season. He helped Arizona reach the Sweet 16 last season and to a 14-6 conference record in its first season competing in the Big 12. Bakamus began his coaching career at Baylor, working as a graduate assistant and helping the Bears win the 2021 national championship. Bakamus played five season at Gonzaga from 2012-17 with the program reaching the 2017 national championship game during his time. He was a part of teams which won 161 games, five WCC championships and five NCAA Tournament appearances. Bakamus graduated from Gonzaga in 2017 with degrees in Sports Management and Public Relations before earning a graduate degree from Baylor in Sports Pedagogy in 2021. From a basketball family, his father, Bill, is a hall of fame high school coach in Washington.

Toddrick Gotcher is in his first season as an assistant coach after returning to the Red Raider program following playing nine years of professional basketball overseas. As a senior, Gotcher led Tech with 10.9 points per game, 62 3-pointers (39.2 percent), 33 steals and to the 2016 NCAA Tournament. Gotcher earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in his final season and is the program’s only four-time Big 12 All-Academic selection. He arrived in Lubbock as a freshman for the 2011-12 season where he played in nine games before a medical redshirt and would play over 30 games in each of the next four seasons for the Red Raiders with 72 starts. His senior season saw Tech advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007. Gotcher begins his coaching career after playing professionally in France, Greece, North Macedonia, Romania and Turkey before finishing his career last season playing in Poland for Gornik Zamek Ksiaz Walbrzych where he averaged 13.0 points and 3.0 assists per game. He began his professional career by playing for ASA Koroivos Amaliadas in Greece where he started 26 games and averaged 12.9 points and 5.8 rebound per game before moving to France to play for Cholet Basket in the France-ProA.
