Temple University Women's Track & Field

Elvis Forde, who has a quarter century of experience as a head track and field/cross country coach at the NCAA Division I level, was named the track and field/cross country coach at Temple University in August of 2014. A native of St. Andrew, Barbados, Forde has dedicated his life to the sport of track and field, helping student-athletes succeed not only in competition but in the classroom. Forde, a four-time All-American and two-time Olympian, came to the Owls after spending a dozen years as the head track and field coach at Illinois State. He had previously served 13 years as the head track and field coach at Austin Peay State. Under Forde’s leadership, the women’s track and field team produced a program’s best third place finish at the 2020 American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. Marissa White continued to show consistency under Forde’s training, finishing fourth overall at the meet in the 400m with a personal best time of 54.47. The 4x400m relay also recorded their best time since 2016, clocking in at 3:44.81 and finishing in sixth place. The 2018-19 track and field seasons demonstrated the bright future ahead for Forde’s student-athletes. Freshman Marissa White made a statement early on in her career by qualifying for finals at both the indoor and outdoor American Athletic Conference Championships in the 400m.
