Shonda Stanton was named the program’s ninth head coach on June 10, 2017. Stanton came to the Hoosiers after 18 seasons at Marshall, where she was the winningest coach in program history with 560 victories. • Current NFCA Board Member - Vice President of Publications Stanton also serves as the head coach of the AUSL's Chicago Bandits. She took the head coaching position of the team in November 2025 and coaches the Bandits in Indiana's offseason. INDIANA Stanton is entering her ninth season as Indiana’s head coach in 2026. In 2025, Stanton took the program to its third-straight NCAA Tournament, marking the first time ever the feat had been achieved in program history. The Hoosiers went 34-20 and were selected as the No. 3 Seed in the Fayetteville Regional after reaching the quarterfinal of the Big Ten Tournament. Her Hoosier squad led the NCAA and Big Ten in three stat categories for the 2025 season: batting average (.365), doubles per game (2.13) and on-base percentage (.454). The team had two All-Americans in Taylor Minnick and Brianna Copeland. Minnick was a consensus First Team All-American by the NFCA, D1Softball and Softball America. Copeland was an NFCA Third Team All-American. Minnick and Copeland were joined by Madalyn Strader on the NFCA’s All-Region First Team. Aly VanBrandt was named NFCA All-Region Second Team while Avery Parker and Kinsey Mitchell were NFCA All-Region Third Team picks. Cassie Hendrix is entering her fifth season with the softball program as Director of Operations in 2026. Hendrix handles a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities for the program. Hendrix oversees the team's planning, communication, scouting and management, while also serving as a liaison to other departments, among other areas of responsibility. Hendrix and the entire coaching staff's outstanding work earned the group the 2023 ATEC/NFCA Midwest Region Staff of the Year Award. She joined the Indiana Softball staff in September 2021. From 2016-2021, Hendrix worked as Texas A&M Softball's Director of Operations and Video Coordinator. The Indianapolis, Indiana, native lettered in softball at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, from 2008-10. The infielder was a two-time team captain for the Lady Flames and earned Big South all-conference second team honors in 2010. She also was a member of the Big South all-tournament team and was named Virginia Sports Information Directors Second-Team All-State in 2010. In addition, she was named to the 2009-10 Big South Presidential Honor Roll. Hendrix left Liberty following her junior year, and after six-month stint with Mercy Ministries, she embarked on an 11-month mission trip to 11 different countries with Adventures in Missions in 2012. Upon her return, Hendrix continued her education at Houghton College in Houghton, New York, and in 2013 served as an assistant coach on the Highlanders' softball staff.

Kirkhoff will be in her third season with the program in 2026. She specializes in coaching and developing the pitchers along with Associate Head Coach Chanda Bell. In 2025, Kirkhoff helped lead the Hoosiers to a 34-20 record and their third-straight NCAA Tournament appearance, where they played in the NCAA Fayetteville Regional. She helped Brianna Copeland achieve her second All-American honor of her career, as Copeland was named an NFCA Third Team All-American. She also developed new pitchers to the staff into the rotation with strong debut seasons for Taylor Hess and Jasmine Reyes, who each charted 20-plus appearances in the circle. In year one, with Kirkhoff's help, Indiana reached back-to-back NCAA Regionals, 40-win seasons and Big Ten Tournament Final appearances. The Hoosiers went 40-20 on the year with a 12-11 conference mark, reached the final of the Big Ten Tournament and earned a spot in the NCAA Columbia Regional in 2024. Kendra Kirkhoff joined Indiana’s staff as an assistant coach in July 2023. She joins the staff after serving as an assistant coach at the University of North Carolina Greensboro for the past two seasons. While at UNCG, the Spartans were the 2022 Southern Conference Regular Season Champions and in 2023 claimed both the regular season and tournament Championship while advancing to the NCAA tournament. Kirkhoff helped mentor the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Year. Prior to her time at UNCG, Kirkhoff held a three-year stint as an assistant coach
