Under his leadership, the program continues to move in an upward direction, showing vast improvement each year. In his tenure at West Virginia, King has nine All-Big 12 First Team rowers – Violet Hewett (2024-25), Lydia Nicolai (2022-23), Emma Toy (2021), Hannah Simmerly (2019), Carly Ledbetter (2018), Louisa Morgan (2017), Elizabeth Kantak (2016), Elizabeth Duarte (2015) and Courtney Schrand (2013-14). He has also had 102 student-athletes named College Rowing Coaches of America (CRCA) Scholar-Athletes, including a school-record 11 in 2021 and 2022 and 219 Big 12 All-Academic Team members, including the 2017 Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the year, Morgan. At West Virginia 2024-25 The season opened at the Sunshine 2k in Sarasota, Florida, with four boats competing. This challenging regatta got the team valuable racing experience against a variety of programs, including Big 12 programs. All four boats advanced from the time trials and heats to the third finals, resulting in the 2V4+ placing third, the 1V4+ securing fourth, the 2V8+ coming in fourth and the 1V
