Currently the director of sports performance, Hannum will oversee all Olympic sports strength & conditioning. Hannum has also served as the director of strength & conditioning where he was responsible for designing the strength & conditioning programs for women’s basketball, men’s basketball, softball and volleyball programs. Prior to his arrival at Toledo, Hannum was an assistant strength and conditioning for Eastern Kentucky University for two years. He oversaw the strength program for men’s basketball, track and field, softball, men’s golf, while assisting with the Colonel football team. Before becoming a full-time coach at Eastern Kentucky, Hannum spent one year with North Carolina State’s Olympic sport strength and conditioning program as a professional intern. He primarily worked with diving and men’s and women’s golf. He assisted in various roles with all of the other 19 Olympic sports teams, as well. Hannum was a four-year starting punter for the Rockets from 2000-03. He later graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in sport and leisure leadership studies. He then returned to Toledo and earned his master’s degree in exercise science in 2014. During that time he served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Rockets. She left Toledo to become a purchasing card coordinator at the University of Michigan from 2011-12, and then moved on Owens Community College to serve as the Upward Bound specialist from 2012-15 before returning to the Glass City to work for the Rockets. A native of Erie, Mich., Schonter-Cherry graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1998 with a bachelor of science in telecommunications and film. She earned her masters in education from The University of Toledo in 2008. Schonter-Cherry and her husband Roy are proud owners of two Corgis named Sonny and Reacher.

Duane Welch was hired as the Assistant Director for Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS) at the University of Toledo in July of 2024. Welch currently serves as the advisor for the offense of the football program, and oversees the women's softball and men's tennis programs. He coordinates the learning assistance program for all UT student-athletes, and also manages the SASS office's Rocket Tutorial program, providing content tutors and academic coaching for extra resources for student-athletes. Prior to joining the Rockets' SASS office, Welch worked for Lucas County Juvenile Court as a probation officer, and as a success coach (2021-22) and an advisor for TRIO Student Support Services at the University of Toledo where he specialized in assisting students to graduation while providing opportunities to develop leadership skills. Welch is a two-time graduate of the University of Toledo and has been a finalist for the Outstanding Advisor Award. When not working, Welch spends most of his time with his family, traveling the world, and watching Cleveland Browns, Cavs, and Guardian games. Welch is a native of Barberton, Ohio. He and his wife, Sarah, have a son, Kristopher (KJ), and a daughter, Kenni.

In her first year on staff, the Rockets turned in a 21-25 record and a 14-14 league mark. Riley Mohr and Jenna Kroll earned all-conference honors, Erin Hunt was named MAC Medal of Excellence recipient, 13 Rockets were placed on the Academic All-MAC team, and four student-athletes earned Academic All-District honors. In just two years, Noch has helped improve the Rockets' defense from a .939 fielding % to .964 taking the Rockets from last in the MAC before the change of leadership into third in the MAC overall for the 2024 season. The Rockets achieved their first berth into the MAC Softball Championship Tournament since 2019, improving UT’s overall winning percentage from .245 to a .531. The Rockets also achieved a program-best single-season batting average of .304. Noch came to Toledo after serving as Duke University’s softball director of operations since July 2021. During the 2022 season, Duke made it to Super Regionals for the first time in program history. During her time with the Blue Devils, Noch managed day-to-day practice operation logistics and all travel logistics for the team and supported marketing & social media efforts, game day promotions, and fundraising.
