Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach
EDUCATION: University of Wisconsin Oshkosh - 2010-14 YEARS AT SAN FRANCISCO: Aug. 2024 - Present CAREER HIGHLIGHTS AT SAN FRANCISCO: Jordan Carpenter was named head coach of the University of San Francisco men’s and women’s cross country and track and field programs on August 2, 2024. In his first season at the helm, he led the men’s and women’s track and field programs to 25 new all-time program top-10 marks, highlighted by two school records (Ellis McKean in the 3000-meter steeplechase and Henriette Halwas in the 60-meter hurdles). Led Ellis McKean to his first-ever NCAA Track and Field First Round Qualifier in the 3000-meter steeplechase. McKean secured a 43rd-place finish in the event while finishing 15th in his heat at E.B. Cushing Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M. Before the start of the 2025 cross country season, the men’s and women’s programs were ranked in the USTFCCCA NCAA D1 Cross Country Regional rankings, with the women’s program ranked 10th in the West Region and the men slotted in 15th. OTHER CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: Carpenter comes to the Hilltop following a stint at Boston University, serving as the associate head coach of the cross country and track and field programs. During his tenure at BU, Carpenter has led 16 athletes to NCAA Regionals highlighted by Daisy Liljegren who qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 10,000m in her first two seasons at BU and was an All-American in the event in 2023. EDUCATION: Pitzer College - 2011-14 YEARS AT SAN FRANCISCO: Jan. 2026 - Present OTHER CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: During his tenure at Pomona-Pitzer, Hook coached 18 All-Region performances, 28 All-Conference performances, 54 program Top-10s, nine school records, six SCIAC champions, three Top-10 SCIAC performances, and one All-American. He was a member of the 2018 SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year and coached conference scorers in sprint/hurdle/relay events as part of the first SCIAC men’s team title in 27 years. Other program accomplishments included the highest men’s team national ranking in program history, the highest women’s team finish in eight years, the first women’s national hurdler qualifier in 20 years, the first men’s national sprint qualifier in 33 years, and the first men’s 4x100m national qualifier in school history. In addition to his track and field responsibilities, Hook spent multiple seasons as the Head Athletic Performance Coach at Pomona-Pitzer, overseeing strength and conditioning for 21 varsity sports. In that role, teams under his guidance achieved eight national championships (three in cross country), three NCAA Final Four appearances, 31 SCIAC championships, 25 runner-up finishes, 43 SCIAC playo? berths, and 4 individual national champions.
