After joining head coach Holly Aprile’s staff in August 2018, Joiner has worked primarily with the pitching staff and catchers. In her six seasons at Louisville, Joiner has helped the Cardinals to two NCAA regional appearances, including the Evanston Regional final in 2019 and the 2023 Knoxville Regional. During her tenure, the Cardinals have also produced a pair of NFCA All-Americans with pitcher/designated player Taylor Roby earning second team honors in 2023. Additionally, with Louisville has tallied nine All-Southeast Region selections including Roby, a three-time honoree and Megan Hensley who was named to the first team in 2019, becoming the first player in program history to do so since the Cardinals moved into the region. The Cards have also placed 14 student-athletes on the all-ACC teams in the last six seasons with catcher Sarah Gordon becoming Louisville’s first ACC Freshman of the Year in 2023. Most recently, the Cardinals finished the 2024 season with a 27-25 overall record and an 8-16 mark in ACC play, placing 11th in the final league standings.In the midst of a challenging slate with a strength of schedule ranked No. 28 nationally, and despite a series of injuries, the Cardinals posted four wins against top-25 teams including ACC champion and Women's College World Series participant Duke. Associate Athletic Trainer/Softball & W. Golf
Stephanie Johnson joined the UofL Sports Medicine Department in October of 2022. She currently serves as the Associate Athletic Trainer with Softball and Women's Golf. Prior to Louisville, Stephanie was responsible for the care of the Colorado State University softball and spirit teams. While at CSU Johnson assisted with day-to-day athletic training room operations, on campus physician clinics as well as providing sideline and medical observer coverage for the football program. She oversaw scheduling medical coverage for summer camps as well as creating the daily schedule for staff Athletic Trainers working out of Moby Arena. A 2015 graduate from the University of Indianapolis with a degree in Athletic Training, Johnson earned a master's degree in Education in 2018 and a certificate in Business Administration in 2022 from Colorado State University. At CSU, she spent two years with softball as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer before being hired on as a fulltime staff member in August 2018. A native of Indianapolis, IN, Johnson is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association. She has a cockapoo named Izzy. Stephanie's fun fact is that she is a classically trained violinist.

Thomas Strause joined the University of Louisville Athletics Department as Associate Director of Academic Services in April 2020. He is responsible for overseeing academic support for the softball and men's and women's swimming & diving teams. Thomas comes to UofL from Kennesaw State University, where he served as an Academic Counselor working with men's & women's basketball and women's lacrosse. Prior to his time at Kennesaw State, he served as Interim Assistant Athletic Director of Academic Services at Coppin State University, overseeing academic support for 150+ student-athletes. He began his career in athletic academics as a graduate assistant within the Center for Academic & Tutorial Services (CATS) at the University of Kentucky. A native of Sandwich, Illinois, Strause earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science (2010) and Master of Science in Kinesiology and Health Promotion, Sport Leadership (2013), both from the University of Kentucky. Strause completed a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Student Affairs Leadership from the University of Georgia in 2018. Thomas is an active member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A).
