Assistant Coach
Alex Thompson is in his second season with the Florida State soccer program and first as an assistant coach in 2026. Thompson was a video analyst in 2025 as he helped the team win its fifth national championship. “If you’re good enough, you’re old enough, and as is the case with players, it’s no different with coaches,” Pensky said. “Alex is really good, and we’re happy to be keeping him in Tallahassee. Alex is a grinder. He’s sharp. He’s humble. He loves our players while holding them to a high standard. Alex has an incredibly bright future ahead of him.” "I’m extremely grateful to Brian for giving me the opportunity to step into the role of assistant coach,” Thompson said. “I look forward to developing our players to help them get to the next level while competing for and winning trophies." As a video analyst with the Seminoles in 2025, Thompson broke down film during and after games and was largely responsible for putting together opposition scouting reports. He also helped to design individual development training sessions for the players. A 2022 Florida State University graduate, Thompson spent the six years prior to joining the FSU staff as a youth soccer director in Tallahassee. Originally from England, Thompson grew up in Sarasota, Florida.

Assistant Coach
Micah Bledsoe is in his second season as an assistant coach at Florida State in 2025. Bledsoe works primarily with the Seminoles' goalkeepers. In 2024, Florida State went 15-2-4, was the runners-up in the ACC regular season and won the ACC Tournament title, the team's fifth in a row. The Seminoles' NCAA Tournament streak was extended to 25 consecutive season, and the team advanced to the second round. Graduates Taylor Huff and Carissa Boeckmann began their professional careers in the NWSL with Bay FC and the Portland Thorns, respectively. "We are excited to have Micah join our staff as a goalkeeper coach. He and his wife Ella will seamlessly fit into our environment and culture," Pensky said. "Micah has played the game at a high level and has now done so as a coach at Lipscomb. The first recommendation text I received on Micah's behalf was from his older sister Aubrey, who has been the starting goalkeeper at the Washington Spirit since 2018, so goalkeeping is in his family's blood. He's a grinder and has had to work for everything he's ever gotten, and that's how we view our program. There's no doubt that Micah will help all of our players continue to develop on and off the field." Bledsoe comes to Tallahassee after a three-year stint with Lipscomb's men's team in Nashville, Tennessee. Bledsoe helped the Bison to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and was a part of three consecutive ASUN Regular Season and Tournament Championships. Bledsoe was key in the developmen

Tyrone Marshall is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Florida State soccer team in 2026. Marshall comes to FSU with extensive experience developing players at the professional level, having spent the last 10 years with MLS clubs. With FC Cincinnati from 2021-25, Marshall served as head coach of FC Cincinnati 2 in MLS Next Pro from 2022-25 and of their U-19 side in 2021. He also was interim head coach of Cincinnati’s MLS squad in 2021 and an assistant coach for Real Salt Lake’s MLS club from 2015-20. “Ty will be a valuable addition to our staff,” Pensky said. “He’s lived the soccer life that all of our players strive for – having had a lengthy and successful career at the club and international levels. And Ty knows what winning looks like, having won more than 10 trophies throughout his career. It was clear to me in this process how well Ty has connected with the players he’s coached over the last 10-plus years. His ability to reach and teach his players makes Ty a great fit for our program. We are elated to have Ty, his wife Cari, and their five children joining the Seminole family.” “I am excited to join the coaching staff at Florida State University and contribute to a program defined by a relentless pursuit of excellence,” Marshall said. “I look forward to working alongside coach Pensky and the coaching staff, together we will continue to empower these elite student-athletes to reach their highest potential while competing for championships on the national
