Head coach Tim Flynn, the owner of 285 career victories, enters his ninth season after joining WVU in 2018. Under his guidance, West Virginia has seen 35 Mountaineers qualify for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships and eight earn All-America status. WVU has also enjoyed great success off the mat, earning 29 NWCA Scholar All-America honors. West Virginia enjoyed incredible success during the 2025-26 season, winning 11 duals and sending six Mountaineers to the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Cleveland. West Virginia finished the year with 10 or more dual wins for the fourth consecutive season, marking the first time since 1985-88, and just the second time in program history. WVU’s 11 dual wins are the team’s most since 2014, and West Virginia beat five Big 12 foes for the first time since joining the conference. The highlight of the season came against No. 17 Northern Iowa. The Mountaineers defeated the Panthers, 23-13, for their highest-ranked win under Flynn and the third ranked win of the season.
