Biography

Kaitlin Sweeney joined the Mountaineer athletics staff in November 2018 and currently oversees the daily administration and management of the Olympic sports strength and conditioning department. In addition, Sweeney handles the strength and conditioning responsibilities of the volleyball and gymnastics teams. Sweeney arrived in Morgantown following an eight-year stint at Notre Dame, where she served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach overseeing the softball and track and field programs. Among her responsibilities, Sweeney designed, organized and implemented a comprehensive training program for both teams. Additionally, in 2018, she had oversight of the 2018 NCAA National Champion women’s basketball team’s strength and conditioning program and also worked with the women’s volleyball team and the men’s and women’s swimming programs. While at Notre Dame, Sweeney worked directly with her team’s head coaches, dietitians and medical staffs to ensure holistic, high-performance approaches to maximize performance of each student-athlete. Prior to her time with the Irish, Sweeney served as the head football strength and conditioning coach, as well as the assistant Olympic sports strength and conditioning coach, at Dartmouth (2008-10). While there, she worked directly with football, women’s ice hockey, men’s and women’s lacrosse, women’s crew and golf.
