Wake Forest University Vice President & Director of Athletics John Currie announced on Jan. 21, 2026 that Kim Lewellen, the Tony and Vi Golding Head Coach of Women’s Golf, signed a long-term contract extension to continue leading one of the nation’s premier programs. Now in her eighth season in Winston-Salem, Lewellen has elevated Wake Forest women’s golf to historic heights, highlighted by the program’s first NCAA National Championship in 2023 and sustained excellence at both the conference and national levels. Under her leadership, the Demon Deacons have captured 29 team titles, three ACC Championships, and have advanced to six consecutive NCAA Championships. In her seventh year at the helm, coach Lewellen led the Demon Deacons to their seventh consecutive NCAA championship appearance and their first regional victory since 1995. The Deacons highlighted their 2024-25 season with three team titles, including one match play victory at the Old Barnwell Derby. This past January, Lewellen brought freshman Chloe Kovelesky to Winston-Salem, who won her first individual title in her collegiate debut and earned both WGCA and All-ACC honors. Lewellen earned a spot on the WGCA Coach of the Year watchlist this past May, while senior Carolina Chacarra, alongside Kovelesky, were both tabbed with All-American. honors; Chacarra first-team and Kovelesky honorable mention.
