Antanas Kavaliauskas joined the Wake Forest basketball staff in June 2020 as Director of Player Development after an extensive professional career in Europe, being elevated to assistant coach in the summer of 2023. Over the last five years, Kavaliauskas has been instrumental in helping Wake Forest: Earn 74 home victories, tied for seventh-most nationally and second-most in the ACC 104 overall victories, fifth-most in the ACC during that span 54 ACC regular season victories, fifth-most in the ACC during that span 13 ACC regular season victories in both 2021-22 and 2024-25, tied for the most in a single season in school history During the 2025-26 season, Kavaliauskas helped Wake Forest earn 18 victories include two in postseason play as Wake Forest earned a No. 1 seed in the NIT. Individually, Juke Harris was named ACC Most Improved Player, All-ACC second-team and NABC All-South Atlantic District first-team while Myles Colvin earned ACC Player of the Week and Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week honors. Jason Shay joined the Demon Deacons coaching staff on June 1, 2021. While helping student-athletes achieve their goals on and off the floor, Jason Shay is a veteran coach that has been a part of one Elite Eight appearance, three Sweet 16 runs, 10 NCAA Tournaments and five conference championships in his 22 years as a collegiate coach. Head coach Steve Forbes and Shay spent 12 seasons working together at East Tennessee State (2015-2020), Northwest Florida State College (2011-13) and Tennessee (2006-11) where the duo led those institutions to an astounding 315-101 overall record, which was an average of 26 wins per season. During the 2025-26 season, Shay helped Wake Forest earn 18 victories include two in postseason play as Wake Forest earned a No. 1 seed in the NIT. Mike Starke joined the Wake Forest basketball staff in May 2020 after serving in a similar role at East Tennessee State. Starke oversees all the strength and conditioning efforts related to the men’s basketball program including strength and physical development, conditioning, nutrition and recovery needs. Starke’s efforts in the weight room and beyond helped build the program back to a top 50 program in college basketball, finishing at 42 in the NET rankings for the 2021-2022 season. In his second season at Wake Forest, the Demon Deacons finished with 25 wins, the most since the 2004-05 season, and 18 home wins, the most in program history. Starke prepared multiple individual players to have personal-best seasons in multiple areas. This past 2023-24 season saw him coach All-ACC first teamer Hunter Sallis, who had a breakout year, and first with the Deacs, to up his numbers to a team-best 18.0 points per game while shooting 48.7 percent fro the field, 40.5 percent from three-point territory and 78.3 percent from the free-throw line.
