Marschner's Quick Hits: Entering his 16th season as head diving coach with the Utes 3x Conference Coach of the Year (2021, 2024, 2025) 16 Individual NCAA Qualifiers 8 NCAA All-Americans 4 Conference Championships 1 Olympic Finalist Richard Marschner, the 2021 Pac-12 Men’s Diving Coach of the Year, 2024 Pac-12 Women's Diving Coach of the Year and 2025 Men's Diving Coach of the Year, is entering his 16th season as the head diving coach of the Utah swimming and diving program in 2025-26. Marschner earned his most recent coach of the year award by helping guide his pupils to perhaps the finest season of diving in program history in 2024-25, one that included multiple historic firsts for the Utes. Marschner has overseen the development of Elias Petersen, who was named the 2025 Big 12 Men's Diver of the Year. Petersen became the first Ute to garner a Big 12 yearly award after becoming the only Big 12 diver to earn First-Team All-American status on the national stage. The Malmo, Sweden native made it to the final of the 1m springboard event at the NCAA Championship, securing a fourth-place finish with a score of 389.45. He made his presence known this season, not only with his performance at NCAAs, but with his silver and bronze medals at the Big 12 Championship and by breaking the Utes program record on the one-meter with a score of 411.45 in the dual meet against BYU.
