Director of Player Development
Josh Goossen-Brown enters his first season with the Trojans as their Director of Player Development in 2026. Goossen-Brown comes from the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, where he was the pitching coach for Single-A Visalia Rawhide. Before his stop in Visalia, he was the pitching coach at Los Angeles Valley College. As a player, Goossen-Brown began his collegiate career at Los Angeles Valley College, and was named the Division Player of the Year, a Southern California All-American, and was named to the All-Western State Conference first team, ABCA/Rawlings Pacific Association All-America second team, Southern California Collegiate Baseball Association All-Star and earned a Western State Conference Gold Glove. Prior to the 2011 season, Goossen Brown transferred to Cal State Northridge, and in his first season, he finished with a .275 batting average, six doubles, one home run and nine RBI at the plate, and a 4-3 record with a 4.74 ERA, five saves and 43 strikeouts on the mound. After redshirting and serving as the bullpen coach in 2012, Goossen-Brown led the team both offensively and defensively as a junior in 2013. Goossen-Brown hit .279 and led the team with 60 hits and 47 runs batted in. He finished third in the Big West in RBIs and was the league leader in fielding after committing zero errors in 442 chances. He also had 10 doubles, a triple and two home runs. Assistant Coach
Sergio Brown enters his fourth season with the Trojans, being promoted to an assistant coach role in November of 2025, after serving as the program's Director of Player Development for his first three seasons in Los Angeles. USC head baseball coach Andy Stankiewicz announced the hiring of Sergio Brown as the program’s Director of Player Development on Aug. 22, 2022. Brown brings over 30 years of coaching experience to the Trojans' staff, and has reached ten NCAA Regionals, six NCAA Super Regionals, and five CWS appearances as a coach and player. Brown won a national championship as an infielder on Cal State Fullerton's 1995 team. Brown is no stranger to his new role as assistant coach, having played the role at San Diego State (2022), Cal State Fullerton (2008-2010, 2020-21), Arizona (2016-19), Cal State Northridge (2013), UCSD (2012), and UC Irvine (2004-2007). During his first three seasons at USC, Brown has helped lead the Trojans to three consecutive 30-win seasons for the first time since 2000-02 and to the program's first postseason berth in a decade in 2025.
