University of South Carolina Aiken Women's Cross Country

Jim Sprecher was announced as the Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach at USCA on Feb. 10, 2025. With an extensive and successful coaching career spanning over three decades, Sprecher brings a wealth of experience and impressive credentials to the program. He comes to USCA from the University of Lynchburg where he was the Director of Track and Field and Cross Country, developing national champions and producing 43 All-Americans, 128 National Qualifiers, and 8 NCAA Division III National Championship Qualifying Teams. Prior to Lynchburg, Sprecher spent over a decade at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where he coached Division I All-Americans and earned five CAA Coach of the Year accolades. He has also coached at Ball State, Arkansas College, Louisiana Tech, Wayland Baptist, and Baylor University. Throughout his career, Sprecher has coached multiple Olympic medalists and world champions, including Michael Johnson. He earned his B.S. in Education, Physical Education and Health Science at Ball State and his M.S. in Sports Management from Baylor. Sprecher has received 15 ODAC Coach of the Year honors, four NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Coach of the Year awards, and was named Virginia Coach of the Year 17 times.
