Biography

EDUCATION: Diablo Valley College - 2013 Chabot College - 2014 Nevada - 2015-16 YEARS AT SAN FRANCISCO: August 2025 - Present OTHER CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: Rowland comes to the Hilltop after spending the last four seasons as the pitching coach at Pepperdine. During his time with the Waves, Rowland helped guide the program to 70 victories, highlighted by a 24-26 mark in the 2022 season. That season, he led the pitching staff to the fourth-lowest earned-run average in the West Coast Conference at 4.50 while coaching Trevor Hinkel to a team-best 3.80 ERA, the ninth lowest in the WCC. As a team in Rowland's first season with the program in 2022, Pepperdine posted impressive wins over UCLA, Cal State Fullerton, and UC Santa Barbara while earning WCC series victories over Portland, LMU, and Pacific. Before his time in Malibu, Rowland was a member of the San Francisco State coaching staff from 2018 to 2021. In his first season with the Gators, Rowland helped steer the program to national prominence as the team ranked No. 17 in the Collegiate Baseball Poll in addition to reaching No. 4 in the NCBWA West Region Poll and No. 5 in the NCAA West Region Poll. Under Rowland's tutelage, the pitching staff totaled the fourth-lowest ERA in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and recorded the fewest walks allowed in the conference In 2019, San Francisco State recorded the third-lowest ERA in the conference and issued the fewest walks.
