Biography

A former Major League pitcher, Dan Straily is in his first season serving as the director of pitching development on Mark Wasikowski's staff. The eight-year big league veteran spent time with the Oakland Athletics, Houston Astros, Cincinnati Reds, Miami Marlins and the Baltimore Orioles during his career. Straily finished his MLB career 44-40 with a 4.56 ERA while making 140 starts and playing in 156 games. He struck out 681 batters in 803.1 innings while finishing with a 1.32 WHIP. He started more than 20 games in four different seasons, while making more than 30 starts in back-to-back seasons in 2016 and 2017. In 2016, he went 14-8 with a 3.76 ERA for the Reds while posting a 3.76 ERA. A 24th-round draft pick in 2009, Straily made his MLB debut on August 8, 2012. After graduating from Springfield High School in Springfield, Ore., Straily spent one season at Western Oregon before transferring to Marshall.
