Asheville also put together six shutouts on the season, allowing the fewest goals in the Big South Conference this season. Maddy Ireton joined the UNC Asheville Women's Soccer coaching staff in July 2025. Ireton spent the previous two seasons at Division II Ashland University working with the goalkeepers. The team finished the 2024 season ranked No. 3 in the nation and No. 1 in the Midwest Region with a 17-2-2 record. The coaching staff earned Midwest region Staff of the Year honors, while Ireton coached Mackenzie Simon to two statistical championships in Division II. Simon led all of Division II in both Goals Against Average and save percentage. Prior to her time at Ashland, she spent two seasons as the assistant coach at Kenyon College. Prior to Kenyon, she was on staff at Lake Erie College for two seasons after serving as a graduate assistant for two years.
