University of New Hampshire Director of Athletics Dr. Allison Rich announced April 7, 2023, that Nathan Davis has been hired as the new men’s basketball head coach. Davis is the 21st head coach in the program’s 118-season history. In 14 years as a men’s basketball head coach, Davis has received five Coach of the Year awards while guiding two programs to a total of 270 wins, five conference tournament titles, and eight NCAA tournament appearances, including one Final Four. “I am thrilled to welcome Nathan Davis to our Wildcat family,” Rich said. “Nathan’s ability to recruit talented student-athletes and lead programs to success are just a few of the qualities that make him the right person to energize UNH men’s basketball and take our program to new heights. In addition to being an experienced and proven head coach, Nathan has been a positive influence on the student-athletes he has encountered throughout his career. He genuinely cares about the young people he mentors and is invested in building strong relationships with alumni, staff, and members of our community to enhance the student-athlete experience.” Davis comes to UNH from Bucknell University, where he was a two-time Patriot League Coach of the Year and led the Bison to a pair of NCAA tournament appearances during his eight years as head coach from 2015-23. Wilson has been an assistant coach on Head Coach Nathan Davis’s staff since the 2023-24 season. He joined the Wildcats after six seasons on the Manhattan sidelines as an assistant coach. Manhattan compiled 72 wins in the six seasons Wilson was on staff after he spent four years playing for the Jaspers. In his four years as a player for Manhattan, Wilson was a part of two teams that went on to play in the NCAA tournament after winning MAAC championships. During his first three years on staff, he worked as a video coordinator and special assistant to the head coach. His responsibilities included skill development as well as scouting. He was promoted to a full-time assistant in 2019, receiving more scouting responsibilities, and working with players to further develop their skillset. “Tyler is a bright young coach who brings tremendous experience to the program,” Davis said. “He has been involved in every aspect of a college basketball program. He does an excellent job recruiting and coaching on the floor with the players. He will be a tremendous asset to our program.” He also graduated from Manhattan sixth in program history with 364 career assists, while his 161 dishes as a junior in 2015-16 are the third-most in school history in a single campaign.
