Head Baseball Strength and Conditioning Coach
John Carello is in his fifth season as the head strength and conditioning coach for the Ole Miss baseball team. Carello joined the Ole Miss Sports Performance staff in August of 2021 as the Assistant Coordinator of Strength and Conditioning for baseball and cheer and dance. During the 2022 National Championship season, Carello was responsible for the implementation of hitter's programs and the designing of modified player's programs. He also gave recruits tours of the state-of-the-art baseball training facility and designed offseason Pro Rebs workouts. Prior to coming to Oxford, Carello was a Strength and Conditioning Intern for the football program at Florida State when he helped implement the program's summer training during the summer of 2021. Carello spent the previous season as the head strength coach for baseball and assistant strength coach for football at Kean University. At Kean, he developed workouts for players that focused on strength, endurance, and flexibilty while coordinating meetings with prospective recruits for the program. During the 2019-20 season, Carello also worked at Caldwell University where he was an assistant strength coach for the softball and women's basketball programs. Carello played baseball from 2015-2019 at Kean University. He was named an All-NJAC Honorable Mention during his senior season in which he hit .317 and slugged .381 with 22 RBI. Carello was a career .305 hitter with 73 runs scored and 56 RBI in 114 career games. Carello graduated

Senior Athletic Trainer
Josh Porter, MS, ATC is a senior athletic trainer who primarily works with the baseball team while also overseeing athletic trainers for the men’s tennis and softball teams. Porter joined the staff as an assistant athletic trainer in January 2013. Prior to coming to Ole Miss, Porter spent four seasons (2008-2012) at Appalachian State as the associate head athletic trainer. He worked primarily with baseball and supervised the men's soccer and volleyball intern athletic trainers. Throughout his career, Porter has coordinated the rehabilitation of numerous athletes who have gone on to play professional baseball. He is a published author on a book regarding baseball arm care, titled Prevention and Rehabilitation Exercises for the Baseball Player. Porter earned his bachelor’s of science in exercise science and master of science in athletic training degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. During his time at UNCG, he worked with baseball, softball, wrestling, cross country, and served as the student rehab coordinator. A native of Corinth, Mississippi, Porter is a board certified athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainers' Association and has certification in CPR/AED and first aid. Porter and his wife, Alice, live in Oxford with their two children, Makenzie and Camryn.

Assistant Director of Academic Support
Sheila Padgett is an assistant director for the FedEx Student-Athlete Success Center and is responsible for the academic needs of the Rebel baseball and softball teams. She also coordinates honors and awards for all of the student-athletes. She began her career at Ole Miss in 2005 as the lead football academic counselor. Prior to coming to Ole Miss, Padgett served as an academic counselor and tutor coordinator at the University of Louisville from 2003-05, working with the men's soccer, women's tennis, rowing and football teams. In 2002, she worked as an assistant academic counselor for Florida State University with the football and women's basketball teams. Padgett earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in kinesiology from Indiana University. While at IU, she was a graduate assistant for its academic support program and served as an assistant to the learning specialist. She is an active member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A). In 2006 she became a graduate of the N4A's Professional Development Institute (PDI) for the Leader/Manager track. She also served as a faculty member in 2009 for the PDI's first Learning Specialist track. Padgett has been a member of the Learning Concerns committee since 2002 and now also serves on the Strategic Planning committee. Originally from Greenwood, Indiana, Padgett also coached high school softball in Indianapolis for five years.

Student Assistant Coach
Tyler Keenan, a former Rebel All-American and fourth-round pick by the Seattle Mariners, returns to Oxford for his second season as a Student Assistant Coach for Ole Miss Baseball in 2026. Keenan was a three-year starter for the Rebels from 2018-2020, posting a career batting average of .306 over 139 games with 31 home runs, 137 RBI, and a career slugging percentage of .550. He was named a Collegiate Baseball All-American in 2020 and was a two-time Freshman All-American in 2018. In 2020, Keenan was hitting a staggering .403 with seven home runs and 33 RBI through the first 17 games of the season when the global pandemic shut it down. He finished that shortened season as the top third baseman in the country according to D1Baseball, leading the SEC in slugging percentage, RBI, and total bases. In 2019, Keenan started all 68 games for the Rebels, mostly at third base. He hit .285 with 48 walks, 66 RBI, 15 home runs, and 128 total bases. He was named a finalist for the Ferriss Trophy and participated in the 2019 College Home Run Derby where he finished in second place. As a freshman in 2018, Keenan started 50 games at third base and hit .301 with nine home runs, 38 RBI, and a slugging percentage of .520. He was named SEC Freshman of the Week twice and Player of the Week once by the conference office.
