Joe Dineen

Biography

Joe Dineen joined head coach Lance Leipold's staff in January of 2025, returning to Kansas as an analyst working with the Jayhawk defense. Dineen joined Kansas following two seasons at Purdue, working with the Boilermakers rush ends coach. Prior to the start of his first season in West Lafayette, Dineen made 247Sports’ 30under30 list. He proved he was worthy of earning the honor, as the Purdue outside linebackers became the Big Ten’s best in 2023. In their first season coached by Dineen, Nic Scourton and Kydran Jenkins had more sacks and TFLs than any other teammates in the conference, as both Boilermakers cracked the Big Ten’s Top 3 in both categories. Scourton led the way with a conference-best 10 sacks, becoming the eighth Boilermaker in program history to reach double digits in a single season and the most in 13 years. Under Dineen’s guidance, Scourton ranked sixth nationally in sacks as well as 14th in TFLs per game (second in B1G) on his way to Second Team All-Big Ten honors. On the other side of the pass rush, Jenkins paced Purdue with 15.5 TFLs to rank second in the conference, while adding 7.5 sacks (third in B1G) and earning All-Big Ten Honorable Mention. With Dineen’s OLBs leading the way, the Boilermakers recorded their most sacks (35) in a single season since 2004 and ranked 13th nationally.
