He was named the sixth head coach to lead the Jayhawks on April 20, 2015, and he signed a two-year contract extension on June 6, 2024, that will keep him in Lawrence through the 2027-28 season. Schneider has guided the Jayhawks to the postseason in four of the past five seasons, including NCAA Tournament appearances in 2022 and 2024. The Jayhawks also won the 2023 WNIT Championship and advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 WBIT. Kansas finished the 2025-26 season with a record of 22-14 to secure the fifth-straight winning campaign for the Jayhawks and the program’s fourth 20-win season in the past five years. KU previously won 20+ games and finished .500 or above in Big 12 play for three-straight seasons from 2022-24, a run that gave Kansas its longest streak of 20-win seasons since 2011-13, and the longest run of finishing .500 or better in Big 12 play since a four-year run from 1997-2000.
