Angel Shamblin-Price first joined the Department in 2009 as a teaching assistant and was elevated to her current position as assistant athletics director for academic services in November 2021. In her current role, she works primarily with the Houston Men's Basketball, Men's Track and Field and Volleyball programs. She coordinates academic counseling and works with the student-athletes and staffs on daily academic concerns, such as tutoring, mentoring and monitoring academic progress. In addition to her Athletics duties, Shamblin-Price serves as an adjunct professor in health for the College of Education at the University. As a four-year letterwinner with Houston Softball, she was a three-time Conference USA Pitcher of the Year honoree and finished her senior season in 2008 as an NFCA All-America Second-Team member. In 2008, the righthander led the Cougars to 54 wins, the Conference USA regular-season and tournament championships, the NCAA Houston Regional title and a berth in the NCAA Houston Super Regional championship game. The Davie, Fla., native continues to hold the school's single-season and career records in ERA, wins, innings pitched, strikeouts, shutouts and complete games. Following her collegiate playing days, she competed professionally in the National Pro Fastpitch League and overseas. Following graduation, she served as a graduate assistant athletics trainer at Youngstown State, working with Women's Volleyball, Women's Swimming, Women's Lacrosse and Cheer, while earning her master's degree health in human services in 2022. Dan Hamilton joined the University of Houston Athletics Communications Department as an Assistant Director of Strategic Communications in September 2022 and moved into his current role as Director in October 2023. He serves as the primary contact for the volleyball and baseball programs while also assisting Associate AD for Communications Fletcher Like with the football program. In his time in Space City, he has spent time working with his current sport assignments as well as the softball and swimming & diving teams. He also acts as the department's College Sport Communicators (CSC) liaison, ensuring the communications office is up-to-date with the organizations updates and deadlines for various awards. Hamilton was recognized by CSC in the Summer of 2024 for his softball game notes, which placed 15th in the nation among NCAA Division I schools, and started participating in their mentorship program for the 2025-26 athletics year. In addition to media placements, Hamilton has grown the Volleyball team's Instagram page following by nearly 100 percent and the Facebook page following by over 600 percent since taking over the accounts. After libero Kate Georgiades jumped over a table to win a rally in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, he helped the team receive media placements on SportsCenter and NBCLX. Prior to Houston, Hamilton was employed for three years at the University of South Florida, where he spent time as the primary contact for softball, women's soccer, men and women's tennis

She provides assessments and counseling to student-athletes to help ensure adequate nutrition for optimal performance and overall health. Capello arrived in Houston following time with the Eating Recovery Center. As a Registered Dietitian with the Center, Capello was tasked with providing medical nutrition therapy for partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient patients. This included creating meal plans while also working with other care providers to ensure exceptional care for patients. While in graduate school, Capello worked with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee for a year. With the OSOPC, Capello created presentations and provided counseling to Olympic and Paralympic Athletes, helping ensure their diet matched their sport’s fueling requirements. She also demonstrated cooking techniques while developing content for social media and print media to educate athletes on best practices. Prior to the USOPC, Capello worked with the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs Wellness Center as a Registered Dietitian and Graduate Assistant as well as with the University of Texas’ Performance Nutrition Department as a Dietetic Intern. With UCCS, she assisted freshmen athletes and the Men’s Basketball program in a variety of roles. Petewon received her associates of science transfer degree at Lane Community College in 2017 before obtaining a bachelor of science degree in human physiology at Oregon in 2018. In 2024, Petewon earned her master's degree in exercise science with a concentration in strength and conditioning at Concordia University- Chicago.
