Matthew Musselman

Biography

Matthew Musselman enters his second season as an assistant coach with the UC Riverside men’s basketball after joining for the 2025–26. Respected for his expertise in recruiting, scouting, and player development, Musselman has contributed to the success of several top-tier college basketball programs and played a pivotal role in recruiting and shaping the careers of numerous professional players. Born in Atlanta Georgia, raised in the Northern California Bay Area / San Diego, Matthew Musselman is a rising figure in collegiate basketball coaching. He comes from a coaching background where both his father (Eric Musselman) and grandfather (Bill Musselman) were head coaches at the NBA and Division One level. He is known for his strong work ethic, recruiting tactics, and strategic understanding of the game. Most recently, Musselman served as a graduate assistant for the University of Southern California Men's Basketball program during the 2024–2025 season under head coach Eric Musselman, where he played a key role in game preparation, player development, and recruiting operations. He assisted USC bringing in the #7 ranked transfer class and #34 ranked high school class which includes five star McDonald's All American Alijah Arenas. Prior to USC he worked as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Arkansas during the 2023-2024 season where the Razorbacks spent four weeks ranked in the top 25.
