Laszlo van Straelen

Biography

Laszlo van Straelen joined the Women's Soccer coaching staff at Rollins in February 2024. Prior to his arrival, van Straelen served as assistant coach for women's soccer at D-III Sewanee during the 2023 season, where he led practice planning, spearheaded player evaluation and recruiting, and managed operations. The Tigers finished 14-2-4, winning the SAA regular season and tournament championships for the first time in school history and reaching the National Championship tournament, where they defeated Hanover College 2-0 in the opening round. Van Straelen was part of the SAA Coaching Staff of the Year. Previously, he was an assistant for the men's program at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, where the Tigers were regionally ranked and made the ODAC Tournament semi-finals. He also served as head coach for FC Richmond U14 Magic Classic, DCXI Juniors, and Maret Middle School boys team. As a player, van Straelen was a four-year letterwinner at Guilford College as a midfielder and defender, helping the Quakers reach the ODAC conference championship game for the first time in school history. He was a two-time ODAC All-Academic selection and represented men's soccer on the SAAC. In 2020, he played professionally for A.V.V. Zeeburgia 021 in the Netherlands U21 competition. Van Straelen is originally from Takoma Park, Maryland, graduated from Guilford College in 2021 with a degree in sports management, holds a B coaching license with the U.S. Soccer Federation, and speaks advanced
