Head Coach
Melissa Kuberka is in her second year as Head Coach of the Women's Basketball team in 2025-26. In her debut season with the Tigers, Kuberka guided RIT to a 12-6 record in the Liberty League while finishing 15-12 overall, advancing to the Liberty League Tournament semifinals. Kuberka came to RIT following a seven-year run at St. John Fisher, which included four NCAA Division III Tournament appearances, four Empire 8 conference championships and six regular-season titles. Kuberka compiled a 146-35 (.807 W%) record during her time at St. John Fisher, including a 92-11 (.893) mark in Empire 8 play. She guided the Cardinals to four of the last five E8 Championships, including their third-consecutive title this past winter, while also playing in the previous six E8 Championship games. Kuberka won her first of three Empire 8 Coach of the Year awards after guiding the Cardinals to a 21-7 record and an NCAA Tournament berth to cap the 2019-20 campaign. Following a COVID-shortened 2020-21 season, she led St. John Fisher to a 26-3 record in 2021-22, including a 15-1 conference mark, for the team's winningest season in 27 years. Kuberka matched the win total the following year, finishing 26-3 with an undefeated 18-0 Empire 8 record en route to D3hoops.com East Region Coach of the Year recognition. A 2019 Brockport graduate, Nestler tallied 828 points, alongside 552 rebounds and 109 blocked shots – the second most in Golden Eagle program history. A two-time All-SUNYAC selection, she also garnered CSC Academic All-America and SUNYAC Elite 20 Award honors as a senior. Nestler also played a season at NCAA Division II Roberts Wesleyan, helping the Redhawks to the 2015-16 National Christian College Athletic Association championship for the first time in program history. Nestler served as an assistant coach at St. John Fisher in 2023-24 during the Cardinals' run to a third-consecutive Empire 8 Championship and appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Nestler is a middle school social studies teacher at Our Lady of Mercy and has also served the athletic department in a variety of roles, including modified basketball coach and a co-coach of Mercy's strength and conditioning camp.
