Coaching Intelligence

Biography

Entering her sixth season as head coach in 2026-27, Lindsay Edmonds has elevated the Owls back to a championship-caliber program and continues to shatter coaching records, securing Rice Athletics' first-ever American Conference title in the team's debut season in the conference. Edmonds raised the expectations once again for the program during the 2025-26 season, with a program-record 29 wins en route to the American Conference regular-season championship. The Owls rode a 22-game win streak, also a program record, and reached the second round of the WBIT. Edmonds was the unanimous American Conference Coach of the Year and was a WBCA National Coach of the Year finalist. Her Owls earned numerous American Conference honors, including Victoria Flores (Player of the Year, First Team), Shelby Hayes (Most Improved Player, Third Team), Louann Battiston (Sixth Player of the Year, Newcomer Team), Hailey Adams (Ambassador Award, Defensive Team) and Dominique Ennis (First Team). Ennis also became the fourth Owl under Edmonds to reach their 1,000th career point, while breaking the school record in career three-pointers and single-season threes. The Owls boasted the nation's best free throw percentage at 81.9%, the second time in program history Rice led a national statistic. The 2024-25 season saw the Owls advancing to the AAC Championship game in back-to-back seasons. Rice saw several athletes earn conference recognition, led by Malia Fisher's All-AAC First, Defensive and Tournament Team
