Director of Track & Field and Cross Country/Men's and Women's Track & Field Head Coach/Women's Cross Country Head Coach
Laurie Henes concluded her 7th year at the helm of the NC State women's track & field program, second year coaching the men’s track & field program and her 30th year as a member of the NC State Track & Field staff in the 2024-25 season. In the winter of 2019, she was promoted from Associate Head Coach to Head Coach of the women's team. Henes began her coaching career as an Assistant Coach for the Pack, before changing roles in the fall of 2016. In the summer of 2023, after an impressive 2022 season, it was announced that Henes would take over as the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country and Head Men’s & Women’s Track & Field Coach, while continuing to serve as the women’s cross country coach. An NC State graduate, Henes was an NCAA champion, a six-time All-American and a three-time All-ACC performer in track & field. Since joining the Wolfpack coaching staff in 1992, Henes has guided NC State's female distance runners to 37 All-America certificates and 30 ACC titles on the track. During the 2024-25 season, Henes further solidified her reputation as one of the nation’s top distance coaches, continuing to develop standout athletes across both the women’s and men’s programs. Grace Hartman, with the guidance of Henes, won the ACC Outdoor title in the 5000m, earning All-ACC Performer accolades. Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
Chad Pearson joined the Wolfpack at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year. He serves as both an assistant coach and the recruiting coordinator for the track & field and cross country programs. Pearson joined the Wolfpack from UNCG, where he served as the head coach for eight seasons (2013-2021). In 2020, Pearson led the UNCG men’s and women’s cross country programs to a fourth-place finish each at the SoCon Cross Country Championships. Three Spartan men and three women placed in the top 25 in their respective races, helping the men’s squad earn 114 points while the women’s team compiled 140 points. The 2019 cross country season saw UNCG’s women place third at the SoCon Cross Country Championships (91) while the men placed fifth. The meet was highlighted by three Second Team All-SoCon honors, two on the men’s side and one on the women’s. Pearson’s squad posted a successful 2018-19 track season with members of the team combining for 11 SoCon All-Freshman honors between the indoor and outdoor seasons, and four of those accolades came in the indoor 5,000m. The cross country team additionally placed two men on the All-SoCon freshman team in the 2018 season. The 2016-17 year included two All-SoCon selections for the Spartan women in addition to a SoCon All-Freshman Team honoree. Assistant Coach (Jumps)
Chris Coleman is entering his 16th season as an assistant coach with the NC State Track & Field program. Coleman, a three-time NCAA Division II National Champion for St. Augustine's College and a member of the Division II Hall of Fame, coaches the Wolfpack's jumpers. Coleman started guiding Mariama Hunt in the fall of 2024. In her first outdoor season, she became the first female jumper at NC State under Coleman to qualify for the NCAA Championships. She placed 12th at the NCAA East Regional with a 6.11m jump in the long jump. She earned Second Team All-ACC honors with a fourth-place finish in the long jump at the ACC Championships. Coleman coached high jumper Christopher Garrick to two All-ACC honors in 2017. The sophomore earned fourth-place finishes at both conference meets, including a personal-best clearance of 7’ 0.5” (2.15m) at the ACC Indoor Championships. Garrick and JaTory Reid also each earned All-ACC honors during the 2017-18 indoor season. Coleman guided Jonathan Addison, one of the greatest men’s long jumpers in NC State history, to four All-America honors and three ACC individual titles from 2014-16. Addison demolished the program’s indoor long jump record with a mark of 26’ 9.75” (8.17m) in 2016. He followed that performance with a silver medal finish at the 2016 NCAA Indoor National Championships, making a leap of 26’ 0.25” (7.93m). Assistant Coach (Jumps)
Jirah Sidberry joined the Wolfpack coaching staff as an assistant coach during the 2025-26 indoor season after a standout collegiate career from 2019-23. A two-time ACC Champion, Sidberry swept the conference long jump titles in 2022-23 indoors and 2023 outdoors, earning ACC Indoor Championships Most Valuable Field Performer. She was also a three-time All-ACC Performer, once in the long jump and twice in the triple jump. Sidberry qualified for the NCAA East Regional three times, advancing in the long jump in 2022 and 2023 and in the triple jump in 2023. She ranks among NC State’s all-time leaders in both events, highlighted by personal-best marks of 6.35m in the long jump and 12.92m in the triple jump. Throughout her career, she consistently scored at the conference level and cemented her legacy as one of the Wolfpack’s premier field athletes before transitioning into a coaching role.

Associate Director (student-athlete tutorial services, m. track & cross country, w. track & cross country, cheerleading)
Jody Moylon, Associate Director, joined ASPSA in 2001. In her current role she is an Academic Coordinator for Cross Country, Track and Field, Gymnastics, and Cheerleading. She oversees the Student-Athlete Tutorial Services and serves as the ASPSA staff liaison for facilities and technology. Jody is originally from Burlington, MA, but came to NC State for both her Bachelor and Master's degrees in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management. After playing soccer for NC State from 1993-1997, she continued on as a graduate assistant in ASPSA, before joining full-time. She currently resides in Cary.

Assistant Coach (Sprints/Hurdles/Relays)
Reuben McCoy joined the Wolfpack before the start of the 2022 school year as an assistant coach overseeing the Pack's efforts in the sprints, hurdles and relay events. McCoy comes to NC State after a year at Kennesaw State, where he guided multiple athletes to NCAA East Regional berths as well as a slew of podium finishes at the 2022 ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Prior to Kennesaw State, McCoy worked as an assistant coach at Syracuse from 2019-2021. While coaching the Orange, he assisted the coaches with daily operations of the program and assisted with coaching the sprints and hurdle groups. McCoy spent the 2015-16 and 2017-18 seasons at Auburn. In 2017-18 he was an administrative assistant with the track program working with academics and helping to coordinate team meetings, functions, travel and housing. He worked as a volunteer coach in 2015-16 helping to setup practice and organize home meets. During his time at Auburn, he worked with several successful athletes, including Akeem Bloomfield, who was runner-up at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 400m, and Nathan Allen, who garnered third-team All-America honors in the 400m. He also worked with Anthony Schwartz who ran a time of 6.59 seconds in the 60m and Shaun Shivers who qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round with a time of 20.99 in the 200m. Assistant Coach (Throws/Multi-Events)
Tom Wood enters his 33rd year as an assistant coach for the NC State Track & Field program, working with the multi-event athletes and throwers. Since he has been at NC State, the Wolfpack's throwers have risen to a high level of prominence in the ACC and at the national level. Wood led Luke Thierfelder and Katie Horne to new program records in javelin throw during the 2025 outdoor season. Thierfelder posted a program best mark of 218’5”, while Horne tossed a distance of 152’8”. Theirfelder went on to finish fifth at the ACC Outdoor Championships and closed out the season in the preliminary round of the NCAA East Regional Championships. During the 2023 season, Wood guided Makala Wright and Timara Chapman to new program records in hammer throw, outdoor heptathlon and indoor pentathlon. Wright posted a program best mark of 191'0.00' in the hammer throw at the UF Tom Jones Memorial. Chapman recorded program bests with 4,094 points in the indoor pentathlon and 5,746 points in the outdoor heptathlon. Chapman went out to win the heptathlon at the ACC Championship and placed in the top-20 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Wood led his athletes to four all-time NC State records broken during the 2016-17 season. Joshua Davis posted program-best marks of 218’ 9” in the hammer throw and 72’ 3.75” in the weight throw, while Lauren Evans tossed a distance of 190’ 7” in the hammer throw.
