Kennesaw State University Baseball

Ryan Coe enters his fifth season as the head coach for the Black and Gold, after returning to lead his alma mater in 2021. He spent nearly 12 years as a scout for the Texas Rangers following a 15-year spell as a player and coach at KSU. Coe first stepped foot on the Kennesaw State campus in 1994, transferring from Tennessee's Cleveland State Community College where he was a second-team All-American. As a player, he was a standout catcher who hit .411 career batting average and .455 in 1995, earning All-American honors at three levels (junior college, NAIA, and NCAA Division II). He was selected by the Houston Astros in the 1995 MLB Draft and spent three years in their organization. Coe returned to Kennesaw State in 1997 as an assistant coach under Mike Sansing, where he coordinated recruitment, developed catchers and hitters, and ran the in-game offense until 2009. He was inducted into the Kennesaw State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004. As head coach since 2022, Coe has led the Owls to an NCAA Regional appearance in his first season, won the 2022 ASUN Conference tournament championship, and established a 124-108 overall record with numerous accomplishments including multiple NCAA tournament appearances and professional player development successes.
