Biography

Payton Bernhardt joined the Indiana Women's Basketball program as a teammate in the 2021-22 season. The Evansville, Ind. native is a part of Team IMPACT, a national organization that matches children facing serious and chronic illness by matching them with a college athletic team. She was diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis – a rare autoimmune disease in March 2021. Payton has become an integral part of the program – giving encouragement, hugs and high-fives. When she's not with the Hoosiers, Payton's favorite activities include reading, making bracelets, playing Minecraft, watching HGTV and cheering on the Hoosiers. She is the daughter of Bobbie and Matt Bernhardt and has a brother, Pierce, and sister, Paige.
