Christian Lomeli

Biography

A former Indiana men’s soccer student-athlete, Christian Lomeli enters his eighth season as an assistant coach for the Indiana men’s soccer program in 2025 and seventh season as a member of the full-time staff. Lomeli primarily works with the team's goalkeepers. Over seven seasons, Lomeli has helped lead the Hoosiers to three NCAA College Cup appearances (2018, 2020, 2022), five Big Ten regular season championships (2018, 2019, 2020-21, 2023, 2024) and four Big Ten Tournament titles (2018, 2019, 2020-21, 2023). Indiana owns a 102-28-24 record (.740) with Lomeli on staff, and the Hoosiers have reached the NCAA Tournament Round of 16 each season. In six of the seven seasons that Lomeli has guided the IU goalkeeper union, Indiana has ranked top 11 nationally in shutouts. IU finished tied for first with 13 clean sheets in 2021 and second with 10 shutouts in the 2020-21 season (16 matches). Under Lomeli’s guidance, Roman Celentano became the first player ever to win Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year twice, doing so in the 2020-21 and 2021 seasons. Following the 2021 campaign, FC Cincinnati selected Celentano with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft. Celentano became the third keeper ever drafted No. 2 or higher, joining Andre Blake and Brad Guzan. At IU, Celentano was a two-time All-American with a 37-10-5 record while allowing just 33 goals in 52 matches.
