Head Coach
High Point University Athletic Director Dan Hauser announced the hiring of Jessica Deitrick as the first women's rowing head coach to lead the Panthers' 17th NCAA Division I athletic program on May 24, 2023. Deitrick, who was once a familiar face at High Point, is returning to her roots after making coaching stops at the United States Naval Academy and Colgate University. She began her coaching journey at High Point, becoming one of the founders of the university's club rowing team in December of 2014, where she served as the head coach for two years. As the head coach of club rowing, she oversaw all varsity and novice men's and women's club rowing programs, consisting of 50 team members. Most recently, Deitrick spent the past four seasons at Colgate (2019-2023), where she was named the women's rowing head coach. She led the Raiders to back-to-back seventh place finishes at the Patriot League Championships in 2022 and 2023.
Deitrick appears to be a program builder who thrives on establishing strong foundations and developing athletes at all levels. Her experience founding programs and managing both varsity and novice rowers suggests she values comprehensive development and believes in growing talent from the ground up rather than relying solely on established stars.

Assistant Coach
Katie Ognovich joined the High Point University rowing staff as an assistant coach in May of 2025. Ognovich comes to High Point after serving as the Program Director and Head Coach of the Charlotte Youth Rowing club for four years. She earned her M.S. in Athletic Leadership from Clemson University in 2021 and her B.S. in Psychological Development and Health Awareness from Oklahoma University in 2018. Ognovich was a Division I rower at OU who's program was consistently ranked in the top-20. Ognovich served as the Head Coach of the Master and Youth programs at Triad United Rowing from 2018-2020, before making her way to Charlotte. As the Program Director and Head Coach of Charlotte Youth Rowing, Ognovich doubled the size of the program in her first year, as she continued to oversee day to day operations, build training programs, and support athlete development.
Coach Ognovich appears to be a program builder who focuses on systematic growth and athlete development at all levels. Her background in psychological development combined with athletic leadership suggests she takes a holistic, science-based approach to coaching that emphasizes both mental and physical preparation. She values sustainable program growth over quick fixes, as evidenced by her ability to double program participation while maintaining quality development.
