Head Coach
Matt Brothers enters his 19th season as head coach of the DePaul men’s tennis team in 2025-26, after first joining the Blue Demons in August of 2007. A three-time BIG EAST Champion, Brothers has compiled a 228-219 record in 18 seasons, including 46 BIG EAST Conference wins during his historic tenure. “The Architect” of the DePaul men’s tennis dynasty, he guided the Blue Demons to their first-ever BIG EAST Tournament title in 2021; kickstarting a dominant stretch that included three championships in four seasons. One of the winningest coaches in program history, Brothers ranks second in tenure behind the legendary George Lott, who led the program for 22 seasons. Over nearly two decades, Brothers has elevated the program to national prominence, guiding DePaul to 10 top-four finishes at the BIG EAST Tournament—including titles in 2021, 2022, and 2024—and runner-up results in 2009, 2014, and 2018. DePaul earned the No. 1 seed in the BIG EAST Championship for the first time in 2016 and repeated that feat in 2018 and 2021. Throughout his career, Brothers has coached two BIG EAST Players of the Year—Filip Dzanko in 2014 and Vito Tonejc in both 2021 and 2022—while producing 17 All-BIG EAST First Team honorees, five Second Team selections, and 39 total All-BIG EAST team members. He has mentored five BIG EAST Freshmen of the Year, including Alex Galoustian (2015), Vito Tonejc (2020), Marino Jakic (2022), Aleksa Krivokapic (2023), and Andy Hadziabdic (2025).
