McFadden joined the Big Green coaching staff in the fall of 2018 to help with the pitchers and serve as the bullpen coach after spending two seasons at Missouri Western. He was elevated to interim head coach through the 2025-26 season in July of 2025 after longtime Head Coach Bob Whalen announced his retirement. In his six years with the Big Green, the pitching staff has averaged a 6.95 ERA, and McFadden has worked with dominant pitchers including Jack Metzger who led the team with six saves in a season twice and ranks third all-time among Big Green pitchers with 12 career saves. In 2025, Eddie Albert and Nate Isler were strong as starting pitcher for McFadden and the Big Green. Isler led the team with 55.1 innings pitched while Albert posted the most strikeouts, 51, including his career high 11 in his start vs. the Cornell Big Red. Joseph Chambers made 16 appearances out of the bullpen, the most of the Big Green, leading the team with a 4.13 ERA. As the pitching coach for the Griffons, McFadden helped the staff post an ERA in the top four in the 13-team MIAA both of his years there. Missouri Western qualified for the NCAA Division II Central regional during his first season as three of his starters ranked among the league’s top 10. He also coached four pitchers to All-MIAA honors in both seasons, including first-team honoree Richie Peoples in 2017. Prior to Missouri Western, McFadden pitched for Kansas State University and was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll. H
