James Hanson
James Hanson joined the College of Charleston as the Assistant Director of Communications and Creative Content in October 2025. In his role, Hanson serves as the primary contact for the Cougars' women's basketball, men's soccer and the men's and women's tennis programs. Prior to Charleston, Hanson spent two years as the Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif. In this role, he was the primary contact for the Waves men's and women's golf, water polo, swim & dive and beach volleyball programs. Hanson was also the primary statistician for all home contests and held roles in many high-profile events. He was the host communications coordinator for the 2025 MPSF Men's Volleyball Tournament and the 2023 WCC Men's Water Polo Tournament. Hanson was also the media operations coordinator at the 2024 Men's NCAA March Madness West Regional. During his undergraduate studies, Hanson was a manager for the Pepperdine men's basketball team and an athletic communications student worker. A native of Sherwood, Ore., Hanson graduated magna cum laude from Pepperdine in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in sport administration before earning a master's degree in organizational leadership and learning in 2025.

Tyler Wibbenmeyer
Wibbenmeyer has served as the Assistant Director of Sports Performance since summer 2021. He directly trains the baseball, men's soccer, and men's & women's tennis teams. He has previously worked with the track & field and cross country programs. In his time with the Cougar baseball program, he has helped the program to two conference regular season titles. Wibbenmeyer came to Charleston from Clemson, where he served as a Graduate Assistant from Fall 2019- Spring 2021 while working toward his master's degree. During that time, he was the head strength coach for the women's rowing team, and assisted with baseball, men's soccer, women's soccer, softball, track & field, and volleyball teams. Before his graduate position, Wibbenmeyer served as an intern with the strength and conditioning staff for a year. A St Louis, Missouri native, Tyler played football at Southern Illinois University of Carbondale, where he received his undergraduate degree. Wibbenmeyer is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA and is also first aid/AED certified.
