Trevor Johnson became the 14th Head Coach in CBU program history in December of 2024. In Johnson's first season at the helm, the Lancers finished 7-18 with a conference record of 3-9 in the program's final year in the WAC. Coach Johnson's first DI win as the head coach for CBU came against Idaho State at the Ridge Invitational in five sets. Coach Johnson would finish with a home record of 5-4 with wins over UNLV, CSUF, UT Arlington, Southern Utah, and Abilene Christian. The Lancers would fall in the quarterfinals of the WAC tournament in a five-set loss to #3 Tarleton at Moody Coliseum. Emery DeJong became the third outside hitter to be named First Team All-WAC while freshman Bella Breuer as named to the WAC All-Freshman Team. Johnson was most recently an assistant coach on the Georgia Bulldogs during the 2024 season. Johnson helped the Bulldogs upset #16 Florida in an SEC match and helped train future Team USA middle blocker Sophie Fisher to being named First Team All-SEC and finishing second in the conference in blocks. Johnson also served as the head coach at Liberty from 2018 to 2023, where he amassed 89 wins in six seasons as the Lady Flames' coach. Liberty topped 20 wins two times under Johnson, going 21-12 in 2019 and 23-9 in 2022. The Lady Flames made NIVC appearances in both seasons, including an Elite Eight run in 2019.
