Head Coach, Cross Country; Assistant Coach, Track & Field
Jon Molz enters his second year at BU as the head coach for cross country and assistant coach for track & field - distance. Molz, who helped the Richmond cross country programs to a combined four Atlantic 10 Championships, made an immediate impact during his first year as head coach of the cross country team, coaching the women's team to a runner-up finish and its lowest point total (36) ever at the Patriot League Cross Country Championships. During the indoor track season, Molz helped the Terriers earn their third-ever Patriot League Indoor Championships title. In the 2024-25 season, the former Richmond coach coached Vera Sjöberg to unprecedented success as she represented the arched Boston at the NCAA cross country, indoor track and outdoor track championships, including finishing as the runner-up in the 5000m at the 2025 NCAA outdoor championships — the best finish ever by a BU or Patriot League athlete at that event. Molz also continued to coach her during the summer as she qualified for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan. On top of Sjöberg’s success, Molz coached graduate student Foster Malleck at the 2025 NCAA indoor championships. He finished third in the mile and was named USTFCCCA Northeast Region Track Athlete of the Year before signing a pro contract with Under Armour. For his coaching efforts, Molz was named USTFCCCA Northeast Region Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year. Molz joined the BU staff after serving as the associate head coach and middle dist

Assistant Coach - Distance
Christian Noble has been named the newest assistant coach for the Boston University men’s and women’s track & field and cross country teams as announced by director of track & field and cross country Gabe Sanders. Noble will assist with the distance program. Noble competed in track & field and cross country at Lee University where he was a seven-time Division II All-American. He claimed Div. II NCAA Championship titles in the distance medley relay (DMR), the 3000m race and the 5000m race. In addition to his NCAA titles, Noble broke Div. II records in the 1500m (3:36.00), mile (3:56.10), 3000m (7:50.98), DMR, and the 5000m race. He currently holds all those records except the 5K (13:24.78) and is the No. 11 all-time collegiate record holder in the 1500m. Noble recently competed at the 2022 USATF Outdoor Championships in which he placed 14th in the 1500m and 18th in the 5000m. Currently, he trains with coach Mark Coogan with team New Balance Boston. A 21x Gulf South Conference Champion, Noble graduated from Lee University in December 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in business administration.

Director of Track & Field and Cross Country - Throws
Grant Cartwright is entering his second year as the director of track & field and cross country and his seventh season leading the throws program, where he has coached the group to unprecedented success. Since arriving at BU, Cartwright has led both the men's and women's throwers to their first national squad rankings in shot put, discus, hammer and weight throw. The program's top-10 lists for all throwing events have been nearly rewritten during Cartwright's tenure, including a school record in the weight throw. A former four-time All-American at Michigan, Cartwright joined the BU staff in 2019 following one season as an assistant coach at his alma mater. In 2024-25, Cartwright was named Patriot League indoor women's coach of the year after he oversaw a women's program that won its first Patriot League indoor championship since 2016 and finished second at the Patriot League cross country championships and the outdoor championships. During that season, Vera Sjöberg qualified for the NCAA Championships in the cross country, indoor and outdoor seasons and earned three All-America nods. On the men's side, the Terriers finished third at each of the cross country, indoor and outdoor conference championships. Cartwright has led Ellie Roan, Kiana Lino and Owen Faulha to individual titles at Patriot League Championships and has coached five others to podium finishes. In 2022, Lino became the Terriers' first thrower in 19 years to qualify for NCAA Regionals. Roan and Cole Tucker were
