Westmont College Men's Basketball

Justin Leslie comes to Westmont with a career coaching record of 352-201 (.637). For the last six seasons, he served as head coach at Midwestern State (Texas), where the Mustangs posted a 23-8 record last season and reached the South Central Regional semifinals. Prior to Midwestern State, Leslie was head coach at Azusa Pacific for 12 years beginning in 2007-08, amassing a record of 266-121 and winning two conference titles. At Azusa Pacific, the Cougars reached the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in 2014-15, and his 2009-10 team was the NAIA National Runner-up. He was twice named PacWest Coach of the Year and honored as West Regional Coach of the Year in 2015. Leslie values his faith and Christian worldview, viewing coaching as ministry. He emphasizes building long-term relationships with student-athletes and fostering a culture of competition, teamwork, and positive energy. His coaching philosophy has evolved through his time in Texas, incorporating improved defensive strategies and a mix of man and zone defenses. Leslie and his wife, Joy, have three children.
