A former All-Big Ten standout for the Badgers, Danny Westerman has wasted little time returning his alma mater to the national stage. Entering his 11th season at UW in 2025-26, Westerman has built a record of 102-116 (.468), leading the Badgers to the 2017 NCAA Tournament for the first time in seven years. His 102 career wins rank fourth in program history while his .468 winning percentage is the fourth-best mark among coaches that coached 100 or more matches at UW. With a young roster in 2024-25, Westerman's squad won nine dual matches, including three Big Ten duals. Patrik Meszaros was named to the Big Ten's All-Freshman team, posting a 10-10 overall record playing at No. 3 and No. 2 singles. In 2022-23, Westerman's Badgers posted an 11-11 overall record and a 4-5 Big Ten record, good for sixth place in the conference. During the 2021-22 season, Westerman led the Badgers to a 3rd place finish in the Big Ten, their first top-three Big Ten finish since tying for second in 2008. Under Westerman, the Badgers won at least 14 matches in his first three seasons at the helm, including a mark ot 18-8 in 2016-17, the eighth-highest single-season win total in program history. Paul Valukas joined the Wisconsin Olympic strength & conditioning staff in 2021 as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning coach. He currently oversees the Badgers' women's hockey programs. Valukas was elevated to the position of Assistant Director of Olympic Strength & Conditioning in the Fall of 2022. In this new role, Valukas will serve as the Olympic strength & conditioning department’s liaison with campus academic programs/student educational organizations and will additionally serve as the S&C department's lead for performance technologies at the Kohl Center. Valukas joins the Badgers after most recently serving as the head strength & conditioning coach for the Ontario Reign, the American Hockey League affiliate of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings (2019-2021). Working with the LA Kings strength & conditioning staff, Valukas created and implemented the Reign's off-ice strength & conditioning programming, return-to-play protocols and rehabilitation programs for injured players. He previously also worked with the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks (July 2018 & July 2019) to aid in the execution of the team's physiology testing group to execute the strength testing battery and serve as a volunteer assistant strength coach. Urban Ljubic enters his sixth season with the Wisconsin men’s tennis program in 2026-27, serving as associate head coach alongside 11th-year head coach Danny Westerman. Ljubic came to Wisconsin to start the 2021-22 season after having served as associate head coach at Minnesota for 14 years. Ljubic helped guide the Badgers to a historic season in 2025-26. UW reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017, advancing to the NCAA Second Round after a win over Samford in the round of 64. In Ljubic's first season on staff in 2021-22, the Badgers posted a 12-10 overall record and a 6-2 clip in conference play, good for a third-place finish in the Big Ten. A four-time ITA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year, Ljubic played an instrumental role in transforming the Minnesota program. A consistent winner with Ljubic on staff, the Gophers made 10 appearances in the NCAA tournament and advanced to the Sweet 16 three times. In 2014-15, he helped Minnesota bring home the program’s first conference title in 20 years as the Gophers posted a 10-1 league record. Before joining Minnesota’s staff, Ljubic spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s teams at the University of Denver, where he helped the Pioneer women’s squad make its first-ever NCAA tournament appearance.
