In 23 seasons at Richmond, Steve Taylor has led the Spiders to a top 25 finish in the NCAA D1 National Cross Country Championship, multiple Atlantic 10 Conference Championship team titles, coached two USA national teams, co-founded the Collegiate Running Association and been selected to the USA Track & Field (USATF) National Team Development Committee as the Men’s Long Distance Running (LDR) Chair (3KSC, 5K, 10K, Marathon) in addition to his attention to developing cross country and track & field student-athletes to their fullest potential. Along with his wife, Lori (Director of Track & Field/Cross Country) they have placed the Spiders program back onto the national stage during their tenure. In his career, which spans over 30 years, Steve has guided 1 World Champion, 7 World Team Medalist (Top 3 Team Finish), 11 World Championship -Top 10 Individual Finishers, 5 National Champions, 32 U.S. International Team Athletes, 18 NCAA All-Americans, 73 Collegiate Running All-Americans, 236 Conference Champions and 561 All-Conference Medalists. He’s been part of 19 team titles within the Atlantic 10 and Metro Conferences for men’s and women’s cross country and track & field, 21 top 10 team finishes within the NCAA Southeast Region in cross country, been selected the conference Cross Country Coach of the Year on 5 occasions and been nominated as the NCAA D1 National Cross Country Coach of the Year (2010).
