Melyssa Lombardi, the 2025 Big Ten Coach of the Year, is in her eighth season as Oregon's head coach. She was named the 12th head coach in program history on July 9, 2018, and brought an elite championship resume to Eugene after a highly successful 21-year tenure on the staff of Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso, including the final 11 seasons as associate head coach. Lombardi was recognized as 2025 Coach of the Year by her peers in the Big Ten after leading Oregon to the conference's regular season title in a year that culminated in the Ducks first Women's College World Series appearance since 2018. She was also named the 2025 Oregon Sports Awards Sportswoman of the Year. Following the WCWS, Lombardi signed a contract extension that runs through the 2030 season. The 2025 season was a banner year for the program. The team went 54-10 and 19-3 in the Big Ten. The 54 victories were tied for the second-most in team history.
