NOTABLE: - The 2026 season will be his first coaching running backs at Minnesota, but it will be his eighth overall with head coach P.J. Fleck - Coached running backs at Kent State in 2025 - Minnesota’s career record holder for rushing yards (4,668), rushing and total touchdowns (53), 100-yard rushing games (24) and 200-yard rushing games (5) - Big Ten Running Back of the Year in 2020 and was named an All-American in 2020 and in 2022. Mohamed Ibrahim joined the University of Minnesota football staff as Running Backs Coach in January 2026. The 2026 season will be his first coaching running backs for the Gophers, but it will also be his eighth overall with head coach P.J. Fleck. Ibrahim spent six years playing for Fleck at Minnesota and volunteered with the Gophers in 2024. Ibrahim returns to Minnesota after coaching running backs at Kent State during the 2025 season. At Kent State, Ibrahim’s running backs combined to rush for 1,045 yards four touchdowns and helped the team go from zero wins in 2024 to five wins in 2025. Ibrahim spent the 2024 college season helping the Minnesota program after his NFL playing career ended. He spent part of the 2024 NFL preseason with the Minnesota Vikings after being with the Detroit Lions for the 2023 season. His 2023 season was cut short due to an injury sustained against the Baltimore Ravens. Ibrahim played at Minnesota from 2017-22 and is one of the best players to ever wear the Maroon and Gold.
