Frank Martin enters his fourth season at the helm of the Massachusetts men’s basketball program in 2025-26. Martin was named the 23rd head coach in men’s basketball history in March of 2022. The Minutemen finished the 2024-25 season with 12 wins, including seven in conference play. Under Martin's tutelage guard Rahsool Diggins had a breakout senior season, averaging a team-high 16.8 points on his way to earning All-Atlantic 10 Third Team honors. During the 2023-24, Martin led the Minutemen to their best campaign since 2014, finishing with a 20-11 overall record and securing a top-four seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship. The campaign marked the program’s first 20-win season since 2013-14 and first top-four seed since the 2007-08 season. The Minutemen opened Martin’s first season at the helm with a 7-1 record and a Myrtle Beach Invitational title. UMass’ midseason tournament championship run featured wins over Colorado, Murray State, and Charlotte while jumpstarting a six-game win streak for the Minutemen. The team also picked up a win over Hofstra at the Basketball Hall of Fame Invitational in the Barclays Center with Matt Cross claiming the MVP honor. Martin’s team recorded the largest true road win over an A-10 opponent by a UMass squad since February of 1996 with a 69-45 win at Rhode Island.
