In his first season with the Cardinals, Louisville tallied 29 wins, which is tied for fifth most in program history. The Cardinals were well rounded on both sides of the ball as they averaged 78.7 points per game, the third most in program history. Defensively, they limited opponents to just 61.0 points per game. The Cardinals held their opponents below their season scoring average in regulation in 34 of 35 games dating back to the opening week of the season. Selim Aldag joined the women's basketball staff ahead of the 2025-26 season as a graduate assistant. Prior to coming to Louisville, Aldag held coaching roles for the Türkiye women's national teams. In the summer of 2025, he was on the senior women's national team staff with Coach Walz. Aldag and Walz were on the staff of the team that competed in the 2025 EuroBasket in Greece and Türkiye finished seventh overall. Elif Istanbulluoglu was selected to the senior national team and competed at EuroBasket under the tutelage of Walz and Aldag.
