United States Air Force Academy Men's Water Polo

Ryan Brown is in his ninth season as the head coach of the Air Force water polo in 2026, taking over after the retirement of Jeff Heidmous prior to the 2018 season. Brown spent seven seasons working under Heidmous, three as an assistant coach and four as the associate head coach. With his arrival at the Academy, Brown brought more than a decade of experience coaching at the high school, college and national levels. In his first season, Brown led the Falcons to nine wins and a fifth-place finish in the WWPA. In the WWPA Tournament, the Falcons upset 11th-ranked Cal Baptist, 6-5. He coached seven all-academic selections, tied as the second most in school history and the most since the Falcons had eight in 2004. In his second season, the Falcons tied the most victories in five years. Air Force was the seventh seed in the WWPA Championships, after a 1-6 regular-season conference mark. The Falcons improved one position, placing sixth with a 14-5 win over Fresno Pacific in the final game of the season. The Falcons hosted two tournaments for the first time in school history and played a school-record 11 home games. The COVID-19 pandemic brought many changes to the 2020 season, but Brown guided the Falcons to their first ever conference championship. The Falcons were 2-0 in the WWPA and 4-7 overall in a season that was played in the spring of 2021. Air Force received a bye in the first round of the WWPA Tournament. Rick McKee enters his ninth season as an assistant coach at the Air Force Academy in 2026. He comes with an extensive background in water polo and leadership. Huckins has been part of the coaching staff that has guided Air Force to four winning seasons in the last five years, a string of winning which hasn't been seen as the Academy since 2002. McKee began playing water polo in 1975. The passion continued to grow as he played, officiated, coached, and parented his four daughter who also played water polo. At the conclusion of his playing career McKee had earned MVP and All-American honors. He also participated on the 1980 Men’s Junior National Team. Following his playing career, he served as a head coach at various club teams in Southern California. From 1997 to 2001 he served as head coach for both Men’s and Women’s water polo programs at Tustin High School. From 2001 to 2006 as the Aquatics Director at Laguna Beach High School which included head coaching responsibilities of men’s and women’s water polo and swim teams. As Head Coach at both Tustin and Laguna Beach High Schools, McKee’s water polo teams qualified for the California Interscholastic Federation playoffs each year. While at Laguna Beach his women’s team took 2nd place at the 2005 State Championship. In 2005 McKee was recognized as one of four top coaches in the country by USA Water Polo. In 2000 he began serving as a water polo official which he continues to do to present day. Following McKee’s high school coach
