Josh Reardon

Biography

Josh Reardon enters his second season as the defensive coordinator and safeties coach at Tulsa after being hired in January 2025. Tulsa’s defense improved the passing yards allowed per game by 101.7 yards per game, the second-best pass defensive improvement from 2024 to 2025 in the FBS. Besides improving the pass defense, the TU defense improved by 100.1 total yards allowed per game, the ninth best improvement in the FBS. TU saw three defensive players earn American All-Conference honors, including two being named first team selections. Safety Lento Smith Jr. earned second team honors. Lento Smith Jr. made his lone interception for the Golden Hurricane against Army, which helped lead the Golden Hurricane to a comeback victory. During the 2025 season, linebacker Ray Coney became the first TU linebacker to record 100+ tackles since Justin Wright. Coney finished with 129 tackles, the sixth most in the nation. Smith Jr. was second on the team with 79 tackles and safety Zach Williams was third with 73. Reardon spent the 2024 season at ETSU with coach Lamb and was the associate head coach and defensive coordinator. During the 2024 season at ETSU, the Bucs were the top team in the SoCon in total defense. They tallied 35.0 sacks and had the 12th-best rush defense in the nation. Before joining the ETSU coaching staff, Reardon spent four seasons at Gardner-Webb as their defensive coordinator.
